Ridiculously nitty, but I can't help but notice in every screenshot where he's firing a pistol that the end of the barrel is a pentagon, not a circle.

Looks like the frame is a pentagon, but the barrel is a circle.

Right. I wonder why that is. But then I don't know much about guns, for all I know the outside of the barrel of this particular handgun actually was pentagonal (or similar handguns of the era were).

Edit: After looking at still frames from the weapons trailer, sometimes the barrels are hexagons, octagons, etc. So just different levels of precision approximating a circle when the images are rendered I guess.

Probably back in the day they experimented with different barrel types. They obviously knew that the inside needed to be circular because of the bullet. Who knows? and who knows if the developers really researched that or if I'm making it up?

Probably won't even notice it in the game.

Well you wouldn't hire the mariachi band early in the game. I meant once you had enough money to afford it. Otherwise if Marston wants music when he's out on the trail, he could whistle.

can I change the whistling station? One time?

Seriously though if we are riding around a ton it will get boring w/o something! Right?

LMAO at a Mariachi band following you around. You are trying to sneak up on some bandits and there are these clownshoe band members playing the trumpets.

I can think of three stations: whistling, harmonica, and yodeling.

I am sort of serious about the music though

That is what made driving from San Andreas to whatever San Francisco was called a bearable task.

They've recently invented these things called soundtracks that don't require a in-game radio to play music.

Playing music from outside the game adversely affects the game imo, unless its sports games.

Oh well, we'll see how boring/non-boring it is without the beats.

You could pretend that an alien intelligence has taken over the entire insect population and fashioned it into a vast distributed music-playing network, for the purpose of providing John Marston with a stirring western-themed soundtrack everywhere he goes. Which raises some intriguing issues.

And while he was moving towards the big red sun going down on the horizion, a western tune was heard:

99 Luftballons
Auf ihrem Weg zum Horizont
Hielt man fuer UFOs aus dem All
Darum schickte ein General
Eine Fliegerstaffel hinterher
Alarm zu geben, wenn es so war
Dabei war da am Horizont
Nur 99 Luftballons

Some old-timey guns did have hexagonal barrels. I'm only guessing, but I think hexagonal barrels where either stronger or easier to reliably manufacture than round barrels.

I miscounted the number of sides on the pistol's barrel earlier in the thread, it's a hexagon not a pentagon. But I didn't realize before that they actually manufactured guns with hexagonal barrels. Video games are very educational.

Re. preordering on amazon. I'm not sure if having gold plated guns is the look I want for my guy. I was hoping for a more hard as nails type with little time for looking flash.

True, i was hoping for the trench coat with a shotgun. But hopefully that just comes with the game.
