I’ve played enough Rockstar games to know that there is so little money early on and way too much not long after. Tempting thoUgh.

As the poster above says, this is the game that really makes the argument we are living in a sim seem in no way far fetched.

I derped about picking up a bounty and got into 3 different discussions with the Sheriff in Valentine about said bounty, they were all different, all were well written and on point.

Does this game have the best clothes get dirty mechanic in gaming?

That's what I did. It seems like it would ruin a first playthrough. I just wanted to create a save before they patch it.

I’m only an hour or two in, but that’s been my path so far too. Red Dead Redemption 2 (it's out!)

it absolutely does; though i dont know the full mechanics offhand of how it impacts character performance (aiming, interaction with NPCs etc.)

I was streaming and my buddy was watching. He was laughing when I created a pile of bodies in the road.

I'm really considering this game, but concerned it is a bit of a slog for a working drone with a wife and kids. I usually get 1-2 hour sessions 2-4 times a week to play games. Is anyone in a similar situation and having fun? I just don't want to spend my entire session traversing the country and not getting anything done.

The amount of traversing is not that bad, I'm playing it on that schedule and honestly I think it's better than serious binging because you DON'T get so tired of the commute, you're only doing it 2 or 3 times per session instead of over and over and over again.

If I had just played straight through I think I would've gotten really ****ing tired of having a chat with a buddy on a leisurely canter into Valentine since that's like every other mission early on, but spreading it out it's not so bad.

I find myself deciding to murder someone or not based on their attitudes. If I say howdy and they give me some sass, they dead. If they don’t say anything, they dead. If they’re nice, I let them live unless they look rich and have good loot potential. If they do, they dead.

This is exactly right. I have the same schedule. Play a couple missions. Enjoy the ride in between and do a couple side things before being done for the day. It doesn't get old like that.

Pretty much the same here. I play like 60-90 mins.

I seem to be addicted to helping people in the random encounters, then killing them or robbing them anyways. There's some pretty funny dialog where they will actually point out the irony

I’m trying to do the “kill 5 cougars with a bow and skin them” challenge and it’s such a *****!! I’m either not finding them, finding them too late (getting killed or they run) or goddamn bounty hunters show up. It’s a $300 bounty so it’s happening a lot.

This challenge has probably been most of my evening.........

When bounty hunters are after you, set up an ambush. Dead eye headshot them. Easy $.

I only recently figured out Dead Eye. I tried it using a bolt-action because I’m an idiot. I’ll try that though.

I wonder how many people this game will lose since it takes so damn long to actually get to the free roam. Almost lost me....when we packed up the mountain camp I figured I'd be good to go, then they make me drive a stupid wagon for 20 minutes? Almost through my controller.

We'll see how I like it after I dive into the free roam; wagon driving took so long I didn't want to play much anymore. Quite after I tried to peacefully roam through the mining camp and apparently looked at some dude the wrong way, because 50 roughnicks decided to fill me with holes.

One quick question: anyone know how to change horse's so a new one if "yours?" Figured it would do it automatically so I got a new horse and left mine, but when I lost the second one a long way away discovered I couldn't whistle the second one back.

Edit because Google: you switch the saddles, which I guess makes sense, but is also just another mundane ****ing thing you need to do in this game that I don't find fun.

Thanks for the insight (and everyone else who concurred). You've convinced me to pony up (hehe) and get the game.
