Just wait until he discovers ammo crafting at campfires. You have the ability to craft notched bullets at no cost. It just changes a normal bullet into a superior notched bullet. You can only craft them one at a time, though, and each one goes through a quick crafting animation.

What an insane design choice. "Let's give the player better ammo for free as long as they're willing to sit here for the next several minutes and mash the x button."

The first time I opened that menu, I saw "You can craft 157 of this item." I notched eight or ten bullets and will probably never return to that menu again.

There's a lot that I like about the game, but some stuff makes no sense whatsoever.

Frustrating and unfun. I'm not asking for it to be like skyrim where you can shoot a guy and the guy standing next to him doesn't notice, I just want to be able to walk down the goddam street without getting a wanted level if I bump into someone. Really needs tweaking.
I once did a mission(wearing a mask! I like the bandana it looks cool I wear it often), then was ****ing around after the mission in the middle of the ****ING WOODS stealing **** from corpses and I got a WANTED->INVESTIGATING->ARTHUR MORGAN WANTED without the cops ever seeing me do anything remotely illegal(as soon as the WANTED thing pinged I stopped stealing and hid by a rock until the cops saw me), then I died because I was trapped against a cliff and like 15 cops somehow responded to the middle of nowhere.

You can hold the craft button to get to turbo whittling, but yes crafting is completely undocumented(as is all the camp upgrade ****) and why. Who. What on earth. What is the point of allowing that. It's just a superior bullet.

Like just from a gameplay mechanic, each type of bullet appears to have its own inventory cap. So you can hold 200 regular bullets and 100 split bullets and so forth for the other kinds. But why? That makes no sense.

Another thing is that for no obvious reason at various times if you have spent the time crafting for some reason your guy will default back to regular bullets. So you gotta constantly be checking to make sure you're still using splits. What is the point of adding that to the game.

I’ve spent many hours playing this this weekend. It’s, obviously, a visually stunning game and I actually prefer the slower pace. It allows me to enjoy what I’m seeing and deviate slightly to check things out without feeling rushed. People complain about witnesses in the towns and such. Well, don’t attack people in the towns! I’ve been ransacking houses and robbing out in the country and the witness thing is minimal. If they start a fight with you, you can fight back and beat them up but if you kill them, you’ll be wanted.

The poker games are way easy. These guys are calling stations all the way. But I will say, I’m surprised they don’t do burn cards. Seems like an unrealistic aspect for a game that prides itself on realism and attention to detail.

I highly doubt they burned cards in the old west

yeah, I bumped someone on my horse once, and then after that now i just don't tear ass through town, not that hard.

I actually enjoy the slower pace as well, im not sure what about it I like, because in other games slower pace drives me ****ing crazy. Maybe its just because this just feels so immersive that I don't mind not being able to tear ass through town on my horse, or that i have to walk through camp. I dunno, but Im really enjoying the game.

I like the looting animations, but I completely agree trying to search a house or something for items is kind of infuriatingly clunky

Also, just got killed by a croc. Scared the crap out of me

Why wouldn’t they? Cheating was pretty prevalent and this would’ve been one way to limit the possibility of a marked card on the top of the deck and someone knowing the turn or river before it’s dealt.

Perhaps the bigger issue with lack of realism would be that the game takes place in 1899 but according to this site, historians think hold em wasn’t created until the early 1900s:

If a witness comes up on the body, the wanted thing goes up and once it fades, you won’t have a bounty. But if no witness rides up as you’re killing or looting or just leaving, you don’t get wanted. I like sneaking into homes and such at night and hitting people with an arrow or knife to further not attract attention.

Woah, ty.

I like to switch to first person view indoors, I find it much easier to target the loot. But mainly play in 3rd person.

Updates: to track an animal you hit the same button that slows time, meaning you can't actually move while you see it's "path" and it takes constant going back and forth, making tracking tedious.
This is not correct, you can eagle eye the tracks, then concentrate on them whatever and then when you leave eagle eye they glow in real time for a set amount of time.

That said as someone who is normally PC master race, I am struggling almost to the point of RQ with the console controls of this game and dont feel any confidence moving through the world that an accidental button press is going to feck me. Inventory system is just alienating, but would not mind if its systems were clearly explained at some point. I have no clue what the icons are that appear when you ride into camp, obviously they have to do with supplies, maybe a mission will explain these.

Dont have any problems with the slow pace.

I keep reading that talk is the same button as pull gun? Is not talk the button under pull gun? By talk do people mean the greet/antagonise prompt?

I dont mind complex systems, I play plenty of niche hex based indy war games, but the sense of obfuscation is what is frustrating.

Also.

What is with deal with random encounter content?

Spoiler:
I came across some sheriffs escorting a prisoner in a wagon, that got ambushed by some ODs, trying to free the prisoner, I tried to intervene, but fumbled it because lol me and died. Does everyone get this? If i play through again will it happen again? Will I get to see what happens if I pull of the intervention or are these encounters random on each play through?

This is a spoiler-free glitch afaik, beyond giving the location of a single random gold bar. I'm going to use it on an early save in case I do a second playthrough.

Not sure how they work yet if you’ve attempted them but I have seen the same one another time after not doing it the first time.

on xbox, you hold LT to talk to someone, but LT also pulls your your gun if you have one in your hand. So you have to make sure you arent holding a gun when you talk to someone.

I'm pretty sure RDR2 might end up being the game that starts to prove we may just all be in a simulation ourselves. Man I hope I'm not the random guy who gets horse-kicked in the head (no spoilers.)

Oh wow! This 100% worked for me and I did it twice as mentioned in the video. I have over $30,000 now! I’m excited because I rarely have these work for me. Thanks for posting this!

To the guy who said it didn’t work for him, I have it on PS4. Not sure if that makes a difference.

Yea this game gives me content anxiety.

There is a weird contrast between the pace of the game, which I am a big fan of, as I can spend hours just chopping wood, carrying sacks of food (make sure you walk past dutch) drinking coffee and just having chats at the camp, and the massive amount of content. The game is slow, but you have to chew on massive mouth fulls of content.
