Gotta change the aspect ratio in your tv settings most likely. My tv has a "fit to pixels" option that clears up my ps4 going offscreen

This drives me nuts. Why even offer a physical option?

Thanks. I just called the store where I purchased the PS4 Pro and they are going to set the last Xbox X aside for me. It's $130 off the X with the purchase of Red Dead which is pretty great. I'll keep my regular PS4 for exclusives.

lol at me for waiting in line for 90 minutes last night to pick up my Pro preorder only to turn around and exchange it 12 hours later.

Read a few reviews of Gods of War on the Pro and the consensus was that, even though it is a great game, the Pro wasn't able to maintain the framerate in 4K mode. The visuals were improved but there was a performance drop. This kind of sealed it for me.

X it is.

The guys at Digital Foundry ran comparisons and they were surprised at how much better the Xbox X ran the game vs. the Pro. The side by sides are pretty damning.

So here are my options (and I don't 100% like either of them):

BTW, I'm playing on a 55" 4K Vizio P-Series

1) Return the Pro and pick up the X. The issue here is that I would have to play the exclusives on my regular PS4. I haven't gamed at all in the past 8 months so I've been sitting on Gods of War and Horizon, waiting to play them in their 4K glory. Last of Us 2 is coming up as well.

2) Just suck it up, sell my regular PS4 and keep the Pro. Maybe I won't even notice the difference with Red Dead. Still get to play all the exclusives in 4K.

I don't really know if there is a right or wrong answer. I'm not even sure which way I'm leaning but I need to make a decision so I can start to play tomorrow. Any opinions?

You should try it on the Pro, return it if unsatisfied.

My guess is you aren't going to notice without an X1X on another TV next to it to compare. You have to remember the DF side by sides are for the most part super-zoomed close ups. The game looks great on a Pro in person, though of course it will look better on the X1X I assume. It doesn't look bad, just there is something lacking in their reconstruction technique compared to Horizon, God of War, Spiderman etc.

This is wtf nonsense.

Regardless, you surely won't be disappointed with RDR2 on an X1X.

Not sure if it's nonsense or not, I don't claim to be an expert.. which I why I was asking here and trying to find some info online. I can link the 2 or 3 articles which made the claim when I can back in.

Sure, I'd check them out for sure to see what they're on about. My first guess is they prefer playing 1080p mode on the Pro, which is a different thing entirely (and my chosen way to play, but at 40-50fps / rare 60fps def not for everyone). The Digital Foundry GoW video tests all modes, but is a bit spoilery of areas / encounters. He recommends the 4K mode on Pro.

Sorry for the off topic.

Goddamn this game is pretty(and I have the ****tiest version, Xbone, but they were sold out of the PS4 Pro bundle at Target and I am far too stupid and immature to not have the game immediately) and it's fun and there's just... so... much... game in them thar 87 GBs but how the **** did they make the cover/shooting thing even more "loose" feeling than GTA5? Gears of War had this work right over a decade ago!

There had to have been another option than Target

member when games shipped with game-breaking bugs that couldn't be fixed in any way, shape, or form?

But I was already at that Target and was presented with the choice of $60 for the Xbox One version then driving home to play RDR2 or driving somewhere to maybe get the bundle.

I hate having no money. I'm torturing myself and reading all the comments about how the game is great even though I'm only going to buy my ps4 (hopefully) on black friday. I'm considering freezing myself for a month like cartman did.

The law seems super twitchy and sensitive.

I got gunned down for bumping someone with my horse.

Got arrested for wearing my mask, lost 40$, was given a voice prompt to take it off, but could not navigate the clunky interface fast enough.

This isn't confirmed for PC, but is it likely?

I am not going to buy an entire console just to play this and **** me if I ever give another dime to a Sony owned product.

I thought I read that was it was confirmed to NOT be on PC. That they had no plans to do so.

I’m on a PSPro and a Asus gaming monitor and it looks amazing. I don’t believe I’ve had any graphic issues. I’ve got about 8-9 hours in so far. Game is fantastic. I’m taking my time too. This should last for a really long time!!

Broke down and bought it. Standard ps4 though, still gonna rock it most of the night.

J,

just get an xbox, if it comes out on PC its going to be forever from now. Plus you can get RL and beat up on the n00bs for some cheap thrills as well :P

Rockstar generally plays that sort of stuff tight to the vest, but given how insanely ambitious this game is, they might wait and port a slightly upgraded version in 2020 after the next generation of consoles hit like they did with GTA5. When you only release a flagship title every 4-5 years like they do you gotta try to get some double dip sales from the superfans.

This is what I expect regarding an eventual PC release.

If you already have a PS4 Pro then I agree there's not much point getting an X just for this game. I pre-ordered for Xbox and then got a free copy on PS4 and tried on both consoles. X is noticeably better but the Pro still looks amazing. The X is an awesome console for games that make use of it like RDR and AC but the PS4's library is just so much better that I will always recommend it over an X for anyone that doesn't own a console.

Also agree that a PC port is inevitable. I also wouldn't be surprised if they made it exclusive to Rockstar Club and not on Steam.

After changing my mind at least a dozen times I didn't exchange the PS4 Pro for the X. Final decision was made in the parking lot of the store. I get that the X has more processing power and RDR is going to look a little better but truthfully, I'm not sure I will be able to tell the difference all that much. Exclusives were probably the biggest motivator to stick with the Pro otherwise, with the current deal on the X, I wouldn't have hesitated to make the exchange.

Also I promised my base PS4 to my buddy's son once I got my Pro and I didn't want to renege on this.

I've had the game since Thursday evening and I finally have some time to sit down and play this afternoon. Relieved to hear everyone is loving it.

If I'm basic and just have regular PS4/X1, am I outdated by now? Everyone talking about which of the pro consoles to get it on lol
