If it's a retail disc, no need for any online. Though there is a patch which includes "varous improvements and bug fixes" amongst other things.

If digital, obv it would need to have been downloaded already - and you need to have your PS4 set as "your primary PS4" so it doesn't license check continually. Chances are you will have Primary set, since you have to choose when you first add your PSN account in the initial setup stage.

If you are having trouble, on PS4 do settings -> Network, and uncheck "connect to the internet" until this DDoS has passed. Sometimes a half working PSN can lead to unexpected behaviour by games/apps e.g. they get some part of a response from the servers but incomplete or erroneous. With it offline, this won't happen.

It's a disc I bought earlier today at the store.

I figured there would be a patch and that's why I'm not going to start playing it until the servers come back up.

About a week ago I rented Infamous, Second Son and couldn't play the game due to this code. I did a bit of googling with no luck, and haven't contacted tech support yet but probably will this next weekend. I have had nothing but problems with this system so far, good times.

Yea this. I've only had problems when PSN is down or the disc is dirty.

If you guys ever get a problem where you can't play a game due to PSN being down you can also just sign out of PSN.

The disc wasn't dirty (they cleaned it before I rented it and I double checked it). This specific error code has been an on going one from the looks of it after googling a bit more yesterday. I know the network was down from the hack recently, but I had rented this before that happened...just was curious if anyone else had this exact error code and what they did to fix it. This is the second big error code I have had and also my PS4 downloads beyond slow (demos and cheap games etc)....we are supposed to get 20 mbps and we are lucky to get like 7 tops (Century Link). Good times.

I'm confused by inFamous first light.

It's only $14.99 in the email I received from PS today. It also says in the email that I don't need Second Son to play it.

So what exactly is it? Why is it so cheap if it's a stand alone game?

It's just a standalone dlc I believe. Red Dead Redemption: Undead Nightmare was the same way for ps3. I guess they are hoping people will pick up the dlc, like it then purchase second son.

I'm going to get the ps4 after much thought over xbox. Is it necessary to buy a better HDMI cable than use the one provided by Sony? Anyone with cable knowledge share their wisdom? I keep hearing mixed responses.

There is no need to purchase a different hdmi cable, unless the one included is not long enough to reach your reciever / TV etc.

That's not what the Monster Cable sales rep told me.

For real, I've been using the sony one for almost a year no problem. If you need a longer one, just get generic from monoprice or amazon
