PS4/5 discussion thread - Page 16 - Video Games

That's nice for those people. I will be buying GTA and ps4. But tbh rockstar have screwed themselves, as many people may not buy it because of the new consoles coming out. Should have pushed it back 6 months and made 2 versions. Would have been number one seller everywhere.

This has been brought up before. You would think, but according to Take Two's Strauss Zelnick(CEO) sales will not be affected by the release of the next-gen consoles.

Well they can say whatever they like. But you can pretty much guarantee it would. Sell more if it was released on all platforms.

Releasing a game 2 months before the new consoles come out would be game suicide for any game that wasn't as big as GTA. It's still gonna sell well of course. But can you imagine how crazy people would be going if it came out on next gen.
I'm gonna get gta obviously but more excited about watch dogs because it's on next gen.

I dunno if it would be better for GTA to release on all platforms.

Lots of people would wait to buy it until the next gen consoles come out because they want the best experience for the game, which gives plenty of time for the early console adopters to buy next-gen GTA V, play through it, and send their copy back into the used market, which means the publisher doesn't make as much money selling new copies of the game.

For once, I'd like to climb the underworld ranks with some evidence of hierarchy. I don't feel like much of a "boss" when I'm still the chump slogging it out solo in a warehouse against 50+ enemies.

Interesting piece of news - the PS4 OS is based on FreeBSD 9.0. I believe since it's open source, they'll have to release their kernel modifications to the public, though they can keep proprietary drivers closed source*. If the Hackintosh is any indicator, we'll see FreeBSD kernel hacks that let us run PS4 games natively on our PCs (with AMD cards). Hopefully it also means AMD plans to stop failing at supporting Linux and the BSDs with driver releases.

*EDIT: nm, looks like BSD licensing is much more permissive than GPL, they don't have to distribute their modifications.

It sucks when they realease a "same" game on both platforms (PS3 and PS4) i mean, its not the same game. Just decide for one platform imo. I dont like the idea of Watch dogs on PS3, just PS4.

And im def getting GTA5 for ps3, iv been a GTA fan for years

. Multiplayer on 4 is awesome, especially GTA Race.

as someone who's never held a 360 controller, wasn't the grip from 360 controller fans that the ps3 controller was too small? Based on the picture, the size of the ps4 controller looks the same(ish). did the xbone controller get smaller, or was there never really a difference?

I think the ps4 controller is quite a bit bigger than the ps3 controller.

The main gripe for me between controllers is that trigger buttons are about a billion times better than two shoulder buttons

Ps4 controller is a new departure from the old pad, it looks new and upgraded, with new innovative features. The Xbox pad makes me want to snooze like a Snorlax.

Then again, Xbox does have the integrated kinect thing. If I can instantly toggle options by using voice commands I'm definitely going for the Xbox. If I can do that, I'm never going to have to press start, down, down, down, x, down down, x, start, ever again.
