After quite a long time of not a lot to play, there are finally a good amount of games coming out that I actually want!!

Far Cry: New Dawn - Feb 15 (to play with the girlfriend)
Anthem - Feb 22
The Division 2 - Mid-March (beta this weekend and this game I will be no-life'ing the **** out of)
Days Gone - Late April

And a new BR just dropped called Apex Legends thats decent. Its a BR, so I don't like it by default, but I kinda like it anyway.

Just got kingdom hearts 3 and compared to god of war it's just.. disappointing. Unbelievably easy combat on the hardest setting, graphics are poor, story is slow and boring.

So what next? I think maybe spiderman, but I don't know. I really don't want to play FPS's on console, I have my PC for that. I am really ignorant of the PS4 library. Any suggestions?
Horizon Zero Dawn? Another graphics feast, good combat (play on very hard and try not to cheese!), decent story. God of War is better, but same goes for most anything. As mentioned, Bloodborne. Spiderman I have, supposed to be good but didn't play yet so can't comment.

Yes GoW was amazing. I just started Nier Automata which I don’t love so far but have high hopes for. My other favorite PS4 games so far are Horizon Zero Dawn and Hollow Knight. Bloodborne was also a good suggestion though I haven’t gotten very far in it. DOOM is great if you haven’t played it. Also going to try Apex Legends when I get some time, a new Battle Royale game from the makers of Titanfall.

Thanks, i’ll probably check horizon out. I hadnt really heard of it but it looks good.

I havent even played titles like witcher 3 so there’s a lot of stuff I can do. I really dont recommend KH3 unless you’re a huge fan of the series. This just isn’t a good game. I’m seeing severe framerate drops in situations that don’t really warrant it, the textures are visibly jagged looking, and the gameplay is meh. The voice acting is crap and annoying. I played 1 and 2 and liked them ok but this game is very much stuck in 2010.

I also started playing nier automata recently and find it to be really frustrating and disappointing. too many invisible walls and seemingly random/hard to figure out triggers.

Maybe my expectations were too high but I was picturing Bayonetta with RPG elements and instead I feel like I’m playing a late generation PS2 RPG. Everything I read emphasized the combat system but a few of my friends who have played it said actually the combat isn’t that great but the story/atmosphere are; maybe it’s prettier on PC but it’s quite ugly on PS4 to be honest. Gonna stick with it for now but Apex Legends has my immediate attention.

Dead Cells is pretty fantastic - got it for Xmas and have been addicted since I started playing a couple of weeks ago. It's a rogue-like platformer with super fluid combat that changes up each playthrough due to randomness of weapons you find.

Metacritic shows 30 positive reviews, 1 mixed, 0 negative. This game got some love in the random **** and steam threads, but don't think it's been mentioned itt. It's awesome, highly recommend it.

On my wish list but waiting for a better price, guess it was like 30% of this past week but my backlog is too big to pay that much.

It's easily worth the $25 ask IMO. But, I hear ya re: backlogs.

Wow COD games aren’t free or even deeply discounted very often and I’ve long wanted to play the original MW campaign.. I already own the Witness on PC for some reason, can’t recall ever buying it.

I'd heard that The Witness was difficult, but holy ****.... My brain may not be able to handle it. Its very cool and interesting though.

Ah good times with MW. I haven't played any FPS in sooooooooo long. Definitely had a few 6-28 rounds and stuff. Damn 12 year olds get better every year older I get.

AC Odyssey is ~ $20 this week on PSN.

I really love what they did with the series in this game. They brought back naval combat, there is a nice mix of stealth vs melee combat The map is insanely big, and the mercenary system is the closest any game has come to implementing the rival system from Shadow of Mordor.

Another nice thing they have done is replace the quest marking system with actual general directions to where your target might be. Instead of the quest icon leading you directly to the target, you will get directions like " south of Mt Olympus, but north of the blacksmith to point you in the general direction.

The system isn't perfect, because there are question icons that show up on the map and very often that is where you need to go . I think those icons can be turned off as well, but I've only had the game for 2 days and haven't figured everything out yet. At the very least, it's a step in the right direction wrt immersion.

Apex Legends is a lot of fun once you get orientated, but I'm pretty **** at it. I've put in maybe 6 hours, still zero kills

If someone can complete the whole game without a hint, they must have a lot of patience.

I say that as someone who has probably only completed 20%.

What is the feedback on DMC5 so far from any of you playing it? I was a big fan of the first one and the others were ok, but I felt the nightmare aspect was a bit lost that made the first one so good (could just be nostalgia).

Yeah DMC5 is awesome. I'm confident in calling it the best in the series. You play as 3 different characters and they all feel distinct in their combat which allows for some crazy variety. Each character has a much deeper combat system than any DMC game so having 3 that all feel different is pretty awesome.

spimp have you tried Bayonetta 1 and 2? I still feel like they are the best games in the genre. Also created by the lead on DMC1 which they never brought back for the rest of the DMC series.
