Cool thanks for the info guys! Played like 5 mins of the Nier demo. I guess I see why people give it great reviews but I totally believe a game like Dishonored is more "me."

The Dishonored 2 demo is 50 GB (I guess you're downloading the full game but locked up til you buy it??). So F that. Patience isn't a virtue I possess. I think I'm just gonna buy that $32 package heater posted above.

I’ve been sorta down on RPG time sinks lately (gave up on Witcher 3 for the tine being) but I guess I’ll have to try and play this at some point.

Fidstar do you have Move controllers?

As Heater says, there are 2 "demo discs" downloadable on the PSN store, def get those they give you a sample of tons of things.

If this is your first VR, please please please take it off (if/when) the moment you start feeling a little queezy. If you get affected by the VR version of motions sickness, it's very likely not a big deal and you'll get used to it soon, with short sessions - but trying to "push through it" is not going to go well at all, don't try

I'll 2nd heaters recs. Also:

- Playroom VR (free on PSN, mix of mini games, family friendly, some multiplayer)
- CoD Jackal Assault (free on PSN)
- Star Wars Battlefront 1 VR X-Wing mission (free if you have that game, incredible if you're a Star Wars fan)
- Farpoint is incredible (must buy the physical version with the gun-con)
- SUPER HOT (this is a safe one for beginner / VR sickness, no movement)
- Skyrim!
- Rush of Blood, which is currently:
- If you're on PS+, make sure to be grabbing the free games each month.
- Star Trek Bridge Crew, if you're a trekkie. Werewolf Within if you're a POG werewolf player.

lots more I'm prob not thinking of right now.

If you're on reddit much, sub to /r/PSVR - news for everything there.

oh yeah Rec Room is pretty cool

I have to plug Skyrim one more time. Best VR game I have played on any platform, hands down. I played through Skyrim when it first launched. I've probably installed/uninstalled a bunch of mods I don't know how many times since then trying to get back into it. I don't think I've ever gotten more than a couple of hours into it again. All of the DLC is untouched.

VR is the way to play this. I'm shocked at the amount of work that Bethesda has put into porting this. Totally unexpected for me. It wasn't even on my radar. Cash grab, no way PSVR would provide a good experience, etc. After seeing so many people rave about it, I had to pick it up. Boy, was I wrong. Wandering around Tamriel for an hour or two in the evening is going to be my way to unwind this winter.

Yeah, I've kept my sessions short to avoid the sickness. I have also only been playing free stuff/demos to get a feel for it so far.

I got Gran Turismo in the bundle, so I'm looking forward to that.

I notice when using 360 on YouTube it's pretty pixelated. Even 4k/8k stuff. Is this normal for videos? Are my expectations too high?

I only have the original PS4 (not Pro), so that might be it? I wouldn't have thought that effected video quality though.

Is Skyrim VR exclusive to PSVR? I had no idea there was a VR version and now I want to wander around Tamriel as well.

Expectations are too high for youtube, not necessarily for video in general but it's a ton harder to make good video than it is games - The video has to encode all the angles you may look within that "4k" whereas the headset has ~100 FOV (out of 360 or 180, depending on the video). Therefore 180 degree videos will have double the quality of 360 ones right off the bat. Unfortunately the PS4 is really finicky with it's file format support. There is a free player / app called LitlStar that can play files from USB if you have them, and it has trailers and shorts of it's own in there. For example I think the IT VR video was on there first. The pro can handle higher bitrate MP4s without stutter than the normal PS4, but not by much.

Gran Tourismo is supposedly an amazing VR drive, but sadly it's not able to play the game proper in VR (yet, hopefully). Still, you can do laps of the full nurburgring in lots of cars and it looks incredible. I've yet to try it, though I very much look forward to doing so.

El K - Yes, Skyrim a timed exclusive to PSVR, Fallout 4 exclusive to PC, Doom VFR for both (at the end of the week!) is Bethesda's strategy this season. It is expected Skyrim will come to PC after the time, it is hoped Fallout will come to PS4 after a time, but that's quite an ask.

Also I don't have the Move Controllers.

Would buy them if it was worth it though.

Of the games recommended so far, they are either actually essential or imo the far superior option for:

- Batman
- Superhot (actually required)
- Rush of Blood
- Skyrim (is very borderline, some will prefer the DS4 I'm sure)
- Job Simulator (actually required)
- Star Trek

Raw Data and Rec Room I actually don't know.

I'd say they're worth it for sure. If you have an old set from PS3 (or can find them for cheap / borrow them) that's fine, they're the same thing.

Think I'm going to pull the trigger on a PSVR early next year then. I don't have any VR but have tried them all and I think PSVR is pretty good for it's price in comparison. Skyrim is a pretty big sell for me. I doubt I'll even play much of the game, just walk around.

They only had 1400 units. I don't really get the point of doing this right now. Thanksgiving week sales equaled the previous eighteen weeks combined.

Best strategy I think for a solo griefer is to just keep storage boxes hidden under single foundations around the map. I got greedy putting up walls and building my own forge/smithy.

Has it happened to anyone else where the bundle of a PS4 with a game was cheaper than buying the PS4 by itself?

Finally getting around to Dishonored 2. Did anytime else find the stealth to be incredibly tilting? I have no clue how people avoid detection through a single level, let alone the entire game. That said I’m glad that combat is a viable alternative (I read that it takes some leveling up before the soldiers become more manageable in groups so banking on that) because I prefer action/combat but would be nice to not die so often.

Got car sick 3 minutes after starting Gran Turismo in PSVR. I'm weak!

Looks great though.

Santa brought me a PS4! I never realized you had to pay a yearly subscription fee for the privilege of owning one. It's like I got a bill for Christmas. I guess that's the way of the world now, though. It looks fantastic. Anyone have any RTS recommendations?

RTS is a very weak category on consoles. You'd be better off w/ a cheap pc if your main gaming genre in RTS. Even the RTS games that are available are mostly inferior ports of PC games.

Just turned on my PS4 after it being off for a few months. I noticed in the shop that the VR games are all unhyped and super cheap. Has PSVR been a fail?

Also bought Persona 5 since everyone, even the youtuber escapist, say its good.

Psvr is failing pretty hard. They deep discounted the price to 175 over the holidays and the numbers are still pretty abysmal.

Yeah I’ve had a PC forever, I was just hoping to be able to play my favorite genre (is RTS a genre?) from the comfort of my sofa for a change. Plus I’m somehow already tiring of Madden 18

Pinkmann, there is simply a huge holiday sale on PSN at the moment.

Yeah of course prices are slashed, but it does say something when PSVR has nothing hyped for ~60$ around the holidays. I just pulled up the PS store and the first VR game listed for me is rollercoaster legends for $6 lol.

Also, I'm really liking Persona 5 so far despite the endless dialogue that would normally make me rage quit.
