I was randomly looking through some Dark Souls stuff and found out that the engine it uses is a free and open source 3D engine from Sony that runs on PS3/4 and Windows. That's crazy? I can't see Microsoft ever doing anything like that in a million years.

How do you think the "flipping" market will be for the PS4's at the holidays this year?

XNA is a closed binary library, not an an open source engine and toolset. And they've abandoned it, so it won't be around for the XB1.

Change "free" to *free* for licensed developers who have passed certification and paid $xx,xxx for a development license and kit. Most companies that fit that requirement already have extensively developed in-house engines so the offering would be redundant. I assume Sony developing their own engine was in response to the poor quality ports of early-gen cross-platform games on the PS3. In-house solutions weren't doing well and it was making the PS3 look terrible.

Digital Foundry's sources also clarify that the "flexible memory" is 512MB rather than 1GB, so developers are "guaranteed 4.5GB for development and a further 512MB from the flexible pool."
So most of the time you'll only have 4.5Gigs of ram to play with some of the time it will be 5.....

Does anyone know if there are other bundles other than Killzone, COD, Battelfield 4, Maddon, Watch Dogs, or Knack? It might be better just to get the base sku pick and pick and choose from the list below once actual dates get released.

Yeah, but the Xbone thread has 4 times as many posts as this thread. Granted, most of the posts are talking about how bad it's going to be, but at least they're talking about it.

I'd buy as many PS4s as you could. I don't think the issue will be a lack of demand or a surplus of retail supply but rather an enormous amount of people looking to flip them - a huge supply on the middleman market. It's going to send the prices on eBay and what not a lot closer to retail prices than they have been in the past. I doubt there will be many going for $xxxx but I imagine there will be tons going for $500-700.

I don't think there will be much demand for XBones. They had launch day special editions just sitting available on Amazon for weeks. Those got bought up after Microsoft rolled back some of the anti-consumer changes but I think that begs the question of how much of those were being bought up consumers who were won over by Microsoft's changes as opposed to scalpers who were expecting it to result in an increase in demand. Frankly I wouldn't even be surprised if a good chunk of the bones were being shipped to Redmond or if Microsoft scaled back Amazon's supply. I think it had to be fairly embarrassing for XBone marketing that the PS4 and a half dozen different generic SKUs were sitting there sold out while the "special exclusive XBox One limited launch day edition" sat available but unwanted.
