I know the Chromecast in particular and stuff in the very near future won't compete with what the consoles will be able to do, but look how rapidly smart phones progressed in the last 3-4 years - they're almost as powerful as laptops. I expect we'll see thumb drive computers 3-4 years from now that will slay the consoles. And if not, we're still going to see wifi streaming from mobile and desktop devices offer a lot more flexibility and power for gaming and smart TV type stuff in the near future, and Microsoft Glass and the Vita seem way too closed off to ever offer much more than the basics. I just want a wifi dongle I can hook up to my TV that lets me control and stream XBMC, Firefox, VLC and Steam over wifi through my PC without having to deal with an HTPC.
