FYI,

this feature has been bugging out for a lot of people (including me) and the screen stays frozen on black.

I've had frown gym battles, frozen pokeball captures but so far no frozen screens from running with this setting.

3, 2, 1...

I found a coffee shop in range of a gym and two pokestops.

Gonna be there for a few hours to see how it works out.

There's a pokestop right across the street from my condo and a gym right around the corner

I was so hoping for a pokegym to be at my actual gym. There actually is one across the street but I haven't determined whether it's reachable while I'm lifting

Basically just tap the screen quickly. Tap and hold to release special moves which build up in bars (or a single bar) in the upper left corner.

man if gym battles worked how they were supposed to I'd be so much more excited. I think I'm running 15% on them

Yea they're kinda silly right now. But this game does a great job of not making you not care, especially for those like me who are usually competitive/completionists

Subbing for the stories

Friday night I was at a bar where my friend works, downloaded and started playing. She started making fun of my for how nerdy I was. Yesterday morning she texts me that she loves this game. Yesterday night she's already doubled my level.

What are you guys doing about pokemon you catch where you already have the evolved form. I have a Raticate, which is final form, and an evolvable Rattata. Seems like I should just transfer the Rattata right away and not waste candy unless I'm missing something. Does that sound right?

Horde everything until you get a lucky egg. Then evolve as much as you can to jump several levels. After that then dust all lower CP dupes imo

Lucky eggs are different from the eggs you hatch right?

yes. you can buy them from the shop with coins and I believe you get them for reaching level milestones and mayyybe rare drops from pokestops

How do I get drops at pokestops? I went to 3 today (all within 2 minutes of my house) and none of them do/give anything

There's also a gym that I can reach from my house

Did you spin the little coin with the picture of the stop on it?

If anyone knows how to improve the way the game tracks your movement I'm interested. My eggs hatch way slower than they should (they registered less than half the distance I traveled). Also, I spent a lot of time trying to interact with a gym because my position kept jumping around it. It was in an area with a lot of trees and maybe my phone (a LG G2) has a terrible GPS, I'm not sure.
In ingress going 5mph or faster kills your walking credit.

For GPS, go to settings / location. You have choices * high accuracy * device only * power saving. For most situations, device only is best. For old phones or if you are among tall buildings, high accuracy is best.

Google has mapped wifi ssids to locations. Power saving uses just that mapping and doesn't use your gps for location. That isn't really usable. It hops from one fixed location to another as you move. High accuracy combines the wifi ssid locations with your gps chip. I call it low accuracy because generally gps is much better so the wifi info is adding noise.

This free app will help you with gps: https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...psstatus&hl=en

Install it, go to device only mode in location, drift will be gone.

I know **** all about pokethings, but this game is like a wildfire.

After changing the sparkplugs and wires on my wife's car today, I told her I was going to take it around for a little test drive. Apparently, that's just the excuse to go along and gather stuff for this game. Saw all kinds of kids and adults at these locations doing the pokestuff. Parks, Library, Golf Course, etc. even in 110 heat here in AZ.

Getting people out and about has to be a good thing right? Maybe I should try this thing too. Is it accessible to people with zero pokeknowledge?

Dumb Question - If someone is near you, do you both see the same Pokemon at the same time? And whoever catches it first is the only one to get it? Or are the spawns separate?
