The one thing that tilts me the most in this game is the randomness of actually catching a pokemon. You can have one appear, throw a pokeball, catch it, then it randomly pops back out and you have to try again.

There's literally nothing telling me my next throw is more likely to "win" than this failed one. I wish they introduced just battling the wild pokemons, like in the normal game.

Well my biggest frustration so far has just been the game freezing.

Was trying to hatch some eggs this afternoon and the game did something weird - my avatar was still walking around, but nothing else was present and it wasn't logging any distance. I didn't notice anything was wrong until I realized I hadn't been buzzed for any stops or creatures in a while. Lost a good kilometer at least, then the game just froze and wouldn't reopen. Ah well, I'll hatch them tomorrow I guess. I heard afternoons could be rough with server overloads but I had no idea.

Yep. Really making me play less and less. Guess I'll stick to the handheld games. Exactly why I don't play games on my phone.

im only level 7. ran some errands today and in the parking lot there were a ****load of pokemon. ive been walking around my complex that has one pokestop at the front for the last 3 days and usually end up seeing 2-3 pokemon on the trip there and back (about a mile). I caught 10 in the span of 5 minutes in that parking lot including my first oddish (my favorite one), my first sandshrew, my first tangela (also my first one over 200 cp), and hatched my first 5km egg into a drowzee. Now I'm super jealous at the people that live in areas where its usually like that.

Have no idea when I'm supposed to actually evolve the ton of pidgeys I have. Was told to just wait til I get a lucky egg ad do it then, but haven't found one yet.

You get lucky eggs when you ding 9, 10, and 15. Keep saving all of your evolutions until you have 50+ and a lucky egg.

is it possible to play this game incognito? or does it force you to be a wandering idiot in public areas.

Is it confirmed that low number a standard attacks are always worse than higher ones?

Or are they roughly balanced, that is lower power ones are quicker?

I have an 1800 Arcanine, but its standard attack is

Bite (dark) 6

Which looks kinda awful.

From my somewhat limited experience, it's obvious to anyone who knows about the game what you're doing. I've had a couple people comment to me that I'm playing (and I hold the phone at my side until it signals something, so I'm not constantly looking at it) and at the park I could immediately tell who was playing.

Quick run to the grocery store netted like 6, including a new one. Would have been two new ones, but an Abra spawned right on the check out guy then disappeared after he broke out of my first ball.

He totally knew what I was doing, too, but he played the game, too.

^haha thought i was the only one doing this.

Yeh i'm 30 years old, so i'm trying to make it look like i'm not playing.

I also have my phone by my side. People no doubt know what i'm doing. lol

Yeah, within seconds you can tell if someone is playing or just on their phone.

Lol at caring about people seeing you play. Jfc at this point you're a weirdo if you're not at least level 15

To be clear, I don't care. I just have my phone by my side because watching my avatar walk around is boring. My phone will chime or vibrate when it needs my attention.

But I don't care who knows I'm playing.

It turns out the standard attacks aren't really normalized at all. Some of the more powerful attacks are as fast or even faster than some of the less powerful attacks. There's tons of spreadsheets and stuff over at r/thesilphroad

Right now it's something like Vaporeons water gun then Snorlax's ghost lick then whatever Lapras does.

Found the PokeDegens in my neck of the woods last night. The train station near me has a plaza with several packed art installations that are all pokestops. We were down there for an hour and a half or so, and there were constantly 3-4 lures going in overlapping territory. You could hardly catch the Pokémon fast enough and only had to pace back across the plaza at the most.
