One of my bosses (aged 41) asks if I've heard about this Pokémon Go thing, that his kids are obsessed with it. As I'm telling him, that yeah, I'm into it (I'm 31), my apprentice who is 22 years old overhears and excitedly chimes in he is too.

Last couple days have been slow at work so it's all we talk about and do now. Lunch breaks are great as grown men in suits (us) drive around and quickly get out of the car chasing Pokémon or try capturing a gym. And yes, the streets, yards, fields and sidewalks are littered with kids and other adults doing the same.

What a time to be alive. This is the Pokémon game I've waited over half my life for.

This maybe obvious for some but the type of Pokemon plays a roll in your attack. So your Pokemon may not be great overall but is likely still effective against grass type Pokemon.

Like water Pokemon are more effective against fire type, etc.

Whoa - I just turned on the game on the off chance that a Pokemon wanders onto my property (never) and witnessed a gym change control. As I mentioned in an earlier post, there is a Publix shopping center around the corner from me - it's literally next to my neighborhood - with a Pokestop on one end and a gym on the other.

I suspect there's a lot of activity there right now because the Pokestop has a lure on it. I'm guessing people going there are also walking over to the gym to battle. That was pretty damn cool to see it change while I was looking at it. There's another gym across the street - wonder if that will be contested, too.

Too bad there isn't anything else visible on the map as seen from my house. I was thinking of starting an exercise routine that would involve running between Pokestops.

EDIT: The Pokestop is a pizza restaurant. They must be loving this. They should run Pokemon Go specials.

One more thing. Saw a post on my FB news feed today that I thought was a fantastic idea. Pokemon Go pub crawl. I won't post the entire thing, but here are some of the details:

Quote:
Introducing Milwaukee's biggest Pokémon Go bar crawl, located on Old World 3rd St!

- 8 PokéStops will have lure modules on them for 7 straight hours! THOUSANDS of Pokémon will be caught!
- Enjoy $2, $3, and $4 drink/shot specials at your favorite Old World 3rd St bars & restaurants!
- Free WiFi at all participating locations, and an all day phone charging hub with 20 available phone chargers at The Pub Club, exclusively for members of the crawl!
That's awesome.

started playing yesterday, and it's pretty fun. several pokestops with active lures near my office, so got to catch quite a few without walking around. also was able to get some during my cab ride home.

Genius. Hopefully more businesses jump on the bandwagon and embrace this instead of trying keep Pokemon catchers away.

Stopped at a frozen yogurt place in my very suburban area that had a dry erase board reading "Fellow Pokemon trainers receive 10% off with proof of app!"

This is a pretty fun phenomenon to be a part of. I wish we were in a more populated area so I could really play.

Jeez, the gym closest to me is really active tonight. It's just after midnight where I am and it has changed control twice in the last 10 minutes or so. People need to go to bed.

So there's a park in the middle of a few apartment blocks here that you can reach three Pokestops from.

Residents are now waterbombing people who are there late at night. Stay safe/dry out there peeps

Had to drive somewhere this morning to pick up something for my kids. Actually saw an unclaimed gym while I was driving.

At my destination, there were two overlapping Pokestops, so that was fun. Had my first encounter with other people playing. This is crazy. Now I'm sitting in a library on top of a Pokestop, though my phone keeps getting confused as to where I am because I'm not moving.

Knowing I was going to hang out and do some work in the library, I got excited when I saw two Pokestops with lures, but they are across a busy street and ain't nobody got time for that.

Ideally you'd have a bunch of candies already saved up, then evolve everything after you've popped the egg.

Just noticed an advantage to the game getting confused as to my exact location because I am sitting still. Because it keeps adjusting my position, I am getting credit for walking (basically has me walking back and forth across a parking lot) and therefore I am making progress incubating a couple eggs as I do nothing. I've gotten a free half-km or so.

Yep best way to use lucky egg is just to sit for 30 mins anD evolve nonstop.
