Pokemon Go - Video Games - Video Game Systems Forum

I know it's a mobile game and people here are not likely to be super into this, but it just came out yesterday and it's a very intriguing concept. Interact with the real world to catch Pokémon, capture local gyms ( they seem to usually be at Starbucks) and get out of the house to catch 'em all.

It's a game with IAPs but i'm fairly certain you could play this free with little reduction in experience. Anyone else playing this? For a lyft driver like me that ends up in random places a lot this seems like a cool way to make my job not so boring haha.

It is essentially the same as ingress which was fun when I lived in downtown chicago but not as much in the atlanta suburbs.

been playing this at work and caught a few guys. might force me to walk around in the real world some

It just got me to do 2 mile walk, something I would've thought impossible.

I'm pretty sure you can cheat by driving around in your car but the green grassy areas which are not on the road seem to have more Pokémon. Plus that's kind of dangerous

So far I have 17 Pokémon, they're all pretty common except I got an Abra and a pretty high CP ponyta. I'm curious where you go for rarer types. There was supposedly an eggxecute in my neighborhood but I couldn't find it on my walk.

I'll probably ding level five soon and try out a gym

with ingress it would disable actions for a while if you were going more than 20 mph or something like that

ah that'd be cool.

it's going to be funny messing around with it at work, i drive a boat that goes like 2 miles per hour and I go maybe 10-15 miles in a shift, gonna hatch eggs like a BOSS.

Curious if i'll be able to catch anything on the water too.

You can trade in duplicates for candy that can be used to evolve the pokemon, which is cool if you're catching 50 pidgeys at a time like i did this morning.

going back and forth in the same 900 feet at work, hopefully my account doesn't get flagged for cheating or something. My waze account got banned for that.

I said this in the POG thread but this game is going to be a game changer. Promotes active and healthy living and encourages social interactions. There will be stories of how "Pokemon GO saved my life" mark my words.

you can use your car to go to the pokestops, and I've definitely caught a few pokemon in my car.

when you can do more stuff at level five does the game finally start providing any sort of instruction?

what are the numbers next to the moves? what do the blue bars mean? if I leave a pokemon to defend a gym do I ever get it back?

i demand someone on reddit do the heavy lifting and put together a sensible guide to playing

Lol, well it gets funnier, the footstep icons next to the pokemon on the bottom of the screen show how close that pokemon is to you. I got a notification that there was some rustling grass right outside my window in my backyard. Figure thats gotta be it, go back there to find it and its in my neighbors backyard -_-

Briefly contemplated hopping his fence but didn't.

Problem I see with this app needs to be actively running to do anything, so it's a huge battery drain and kind of huge distraction

Also the servers keep crashing in my area probably every 30 minutes or so
