If you keep it cranking, you might be surprised at how quickly you eat into level 39. The double XP doesn't end until December 1st. Even if you are modestly grinding the event, it wouldn't be all that hard to cross over another couple million in the remaining time.

I spent a bunch of lucky eggs on raiding/evolving already. I am up 1.75 million XP in the last couple of days so far and will cross the last couple hundred thousand tonight to get to 40.

I sideloaded the APK early this morning and can personally verify that players can now level their pokes to L40 without having to resort to any glitches.

Multiple notable events today:

• Got all 16 hidden powers of Suicune.
• Already had a hundo, but I now have an inverse perfect, the worst possible Suicune (67% IV).
• Finally hit level 40.

My wife will be hitting the level 40 milestone by tomorrow night. We will be the official unofficial Pokemon Go Power Couple!

what are hidden powers?

They are just one of the two possible quick-moves on Suicune (some other pokes can get them too). The interesting aspect about them is that they can be multiple types (except for Normal and Fairy in the case of Suicune). Each Suicune has exactly one hidden power type. If it is Fighting, for example, it can't be Fast-TM'd to any other type of hidden power.

Well, my wife finally made it to level 40. When we didn't really have time for it on Thursday she sorta put if off until last night, but she is official now.

During the event so far I have gone up 3.25 million XP. New goal for whenever the next XP event hits is to get to level 42 (no, not a real thing, just what the locals call it when you get to 40 million XP because it is level 40 x's 2).

I am otherwise just leveling up various pokes I have. I have maxed out three more pokes during this event: a 100 IV Vape, a 91 IV Blissey, and a second Mewtwo with 84 IV (perfect Attack) and Focus Blast. I'm also focusing a ton of effort into sponsored gyms and local parks so that I can grab some more Mewtwo, or whatever happens next with regard to EX raids.

still need to get a suicune. I’ve gone to probably 10 raids, no one’s ever there and the discord group is never around when I’m playing. gonna piss me off if I can’t get one before it leaves on the 30th

I've been playing the game nonstop (other than like a 2-week period last year) since launch and I'm just coming up on level 35 (i.e. not even halfway to 40). Granted I don't play a ton every day or do 100% optimal lucky egg evolution sessions but 40 seems like insanity. Whenever I see some person on Reddit like "oh yeah I hit level 40 back in April" I wonder if they just don't work and play full-time and/or are dropping thousands of dollars on coins.

The funny thing is, I have always felt rather casual relative to many people I play with. I know many peeps that are at 40,000,000 to 50,000,000 (I know one guy that crossed level 40 tonight with his second account).

I will say that I play pretty optimally when I do play. I grind out in locations where 10+ stops are walkable in a 5-minute loop, for example. Another example, all the local high-levels around here do some optimized raiding on the weekends. We blow through like 5 legendary raids or more an hour when we go but quit by hour two and do it early to avoid traffic. And we really take advantage of events. During Fire and Ice, I went up 2.5 million. I'm up about 3.5 million this event so far and already have enough candy to do another half-million in XP at any moment.

My wife and I have a $20 per month allowance now for the game (since June 2017), so that helps, but we don't spend thousands. You just have to use strategize your item usage well and save every damn coin you get. Also, Google Opinion Rewards. I think I have gotten $50 worth of credit since I started doing the surveys.

I just got 3 charge tms from a single ho oh raid.

Basically at the end of the event. Still haven't spent one of my lucky eggs from turning level 40, but I just don't have much of anything to spend it on. I guess I will just let it rest there unused until another major event. The spoils of the event have been as follows:

• Level 40
• 4+ million XP (total of 22.15 million XP)
• Took multiple pokemon to L40 (Mewtwo x's 2, 96IV Dragonite, 96IV Tyranitar, 100IV Vaporeon)
• Several pokes I have taken to "near" level 40 (level 38.5 91IV Blissey being the most notable)
• Somewhere in the 600k to 750k range worth of dust
• About 2500 pokemon caught (almost to 30,000 caught total).

I'm pumped to take all the spoils of war here into battle in the future.

And I spoke too soon. Decided to do a quick, last-minute evolve session with my last lucky egg while on break at work. I'm now at 22.3 million XP (up 4.3 million from the beginning of the event). Once I hit 40 I really slowed down too. I could have rather easily gone up the entirety of level 39 during this event if I had really pushed myself.

My next major goal will be stockpiling my candy reserves to make a serious run at 10 million XP during whatever the next major XP event it. That should put me within spitting distance of double-40 by early next summer or so.

Up 4 million just in the course of this event boggles my mind. I play a bit more than I think I should, and I think I did less than an order of magnitude less than that.

A guy on discord in my area said he went through the entirety of level 39 during the event.

I didn’t track it but I think I did somewhere around a milly. Was able to get 180k+ on a Lucky egg the last day to crack 10m overall.

I know a guy that went through half of 38 and all of 39 during the event and is now sitting at 40. There is another guy I know of locally that apparently went up 1.5 million stardust and something like 10+ million XP. His goal was to go from 37 to 40 in this event and he succeeded.

I had thousands upon thousands of candy of basically every semi-common pokemon around at the start of the event. I had three sets of mass evolves ready to go on day 1 so I went up like 500k almost immediately. After that a little grinding and a dedicated 4-hour session of legendary raiding basically made up the difference.

And to get to 4+ million though I actually did exhaust pretty much all my candy though. For example, I went from 6000 pidgey candy to like 400. I went from 3000 rattata to none. Because of my candy supply I didn't have to work hard, I just caught everything and once I got to like 90 evolveable pokes, I just hit a mass evolve session.

Was super lazy last few days only got about 1.6m xp from the event. Had not saved up much candy though but i think im just going to save up now for the next one.
