How is there no thread for this game already?

It's technically in early release still for $29.99 but price won't be going up when fully released and I doubt it'll be on sale for steam summer sales in June.

Who is playing? I'm really enjoying this game!

It's a battle royale type game, similar to H1Z1 from what I've heard but I haven't played that before.

A buddy of mine has been streaming it almost daily for a month and change. He actually hates PC gaming, but is obsessed to the point of buying a couple of teammates PC's so they could play with him. I think they have a pretty good chance at topping the leaderboards when the stats reset soon.

I can't believe an AAA developer hasn't made an actual Battle Royale game for consoles yet. The first one to do it will rake in some serious dough!!!

I've had fun with this game in a small sample. It's a fun game to play in a duo or squad with friends... I'm not taking it too competitively/seriously.

That being said, I don't really play a lot of early access games... but holy crap is it buggy/performs terribly. If anyone is getting this, clean install the latest drivers if you have any issues with it. It was force rebooting my computer until I upgraded, and totally crashing my other friend's graphics drivers (his computer would be on but total black screens). Also randomly dips from 150 to about 5 frames with some frequency.

Still, enjoying it.

Kotaku has been writing about this game for a while, it seems pretty fun and frustrating at the same time.

Or.. you hid in a shack for 40 minutes while those other two guys did all the hard work though. Runner up probably had 10% life left and no med kits.

I spent some time watching on Twitch. It seems like there are way more efficient games to get your dopamine rush from.

This game is going to have a "not enough fish" problem really quick. It seems like an exercise in pure frustration. The correct way to play if you want to win is to just be a massive pussy. But that only gets you so far, because an arbitrary decision to juke left or right behind a map object when you're down to the final few is the difference between whether or not the last 20 minutes of shack-hiding was worth it.

Interesting concept, but I wonder how they'll avoid completely alienating the vast majority of those that try it out. But then, they'll have the $30 by then, so will it even matter?

Sounds like there's a lot more to this game than it may seem.

Solo, duo, squad all have their own MMR (or ELO) type systems already in play. Will be interesting how this game, especially Solo, works in a competitive format.

Already sounds like this game is getting ELeague traction so fan base should really boom with that.

More guns and maps are in the works, including smaller maps.

There are some performance issues but the game is certainly not unplayable. Loving this so much.

I'm not great at shooters and really have only played CSGO but freaking love this and the strategy behind it. Game sense is so massive.

I keep thinking about getting this game but reality sets in and I remember how much I suck at shooters.

I think this is going to be the Goldeneye of the next generation. It's going to be the game that spawns a whole new genre of games.

I think the massive tournament elimination style of game has a ton of room to be really cool when done right.

Any thoughts on if this could be played on a new imac using bootcamp?

Would have the Radeon Pro 580 card/8-16 gb ram. Just no idea/experience with how/if bootcamp throttles things down. I'm assuming it would be mostly fine but obv not optimal?

I know 1 guy who is doing a boot camp and says it works well. He know nothing about PC's so it took awhile to set up, but so far it's been done for him. Pretty sure his is an older Mac as well. Like 2015

agreed, though i think the ideal game format is gonna have to be some kind of vague pivot, like how someone saw warcraft3 and built DOTA.

there are so many aspects to this game individually that are amazing, it's just that they are packaged in a game thats in alpha stage and geared towards the niche concept of battle royale.

you can take the engine of this and build other game types in the same frame of mind but in a slightly different direction and come up with some really cool stuff.

like imagine a player vs environment build into this engine that deals with missions you might see in call of duty. more realistic looting elements, interesting missions that can come off of that, etc. that's just one suggestion. you can do so many things off of the looting + massive beautiful maps.

im a little cynical in terms of this gametype as an e-sport, but whatever the optimal thing is that comes out of this can definitely supplant CS:GO/Destiny/CoD as the best shooter game.
