903 is easy to clean, definitely easier to clean than the MX518 trapping dead skin under all kinds of crevices.

Not a great time to upgrade to a 2070 considering Nvidia's new cards come out next week with better performance for the same price.

Agreed. The 2070 super dangerously close to 1080ti.

Impending price war too. AMD cards look competitive. They are why the “super” green cards are coming out anyway.

Ok I just looked this up and I'm not sure why I thought it was Razer, but the mouse was a Mad Catz, Cyborg® R.A.T. 5 Gaming Mouse for PC and Mac. Sorry that I was wrong. Definitely don't buy Mad Catz.

PSA: Hold up if you're looking to buy a new video card - benchmarks of Nvidia's new "super" series of cards are out. You can get a noticeable improvement over the "old" cards and they're cheaper.

Shots fired. AMD revised pricing on new cards. Think nVidia is gonna follow with super cards?

Bought powermat for g903.

TLDR review: nice and totally unnecessary.

Unlikely unless AMD cards benchmark and sell much better than anticipated. 5700xt has been estimated to be around 2070/2060 Super perf levels and price for rough equivalent boards is the same.
Nvidia already has market share advantage, so they're the default choice and AMD has to win people over. Best likely outcome for buyers is closeout sales on 2070/2080 non-super stock.
I'm still holding out with a 1080 until I can justify a 2080ti to myself or prices fall for equivalent or better performance at 4K. 2080/2080 super isn't a large enough upgrade to justify $700 for me.

I built my current computer maybe 1.5yrs ago. I kept my graphics card because it was one of the newer components of my older build. I replaced it in the "old" computer when the monitor started getting orange streaks in it and thought the graphics card was going bad. It turned out to be the monitor itself. But anyway, my current graphics card is an Asus HD7770-DC-1GD5-V2.

If I'm watching two Twitch streams at the same time, I'm finding that it ends up getting really choppy and if I switch back to one stream, the video will be frozen. I can still hear the "live" audio, but the picture is frozen in place for a few seconds.

Is this due to the 1GB from the graphics card or just a bad graphics card to begin with? If it's recommended to upgrade, then I'd like to get something nice that can handle multiple streams and videos.

If I'm playing a game, I'm not super concerned about being able to play on Ultra settings, but I do prefer speed and reliability.

I get what you're describing once in a while (the frozen part) when I switch between tabs and I have a 1080. So it's not all on the card

Check your hardware acceleration setting in your browser. Whatever it is currently set to, try the opposite. For Chrome, the setting is in advanced Settings, under System, "Use hardware acceleration when available".

Yeah the same worked from me, but the setting that works for Twitch makes Google street view real slow

I turned it off. It seems to be working as I hoped. I'll keep an eye on it. Thanks!

I am actually rooting for bitcoin because I think that’s still the only way for me to justifying upgrading. Lol.

Eve-Online upped recommended CPU to i7-7700 and I am gaming mostly on a 6700HQ with another 7700hq laptop and an old desktop (that's basically been relegated to media server duties) with i7-6850.

Maybe I've finally found a reason to upgrade.

To my shock and surprise, when I asked my wife what she wants for her birthday, she told me HTC Vive.

She was apparently quite taken by Tilt Brush from a few years ago when we tried a demo somewhere and she wants to play with it at home now that we moved into a bigger apartment.

Should probably be a Valve Index by now, if possible.

Is it that much better? Linus from LTT seems to think it is but he’s got free hardware out the wazoo.

As it is I probably have to buy her an eGPU unit so she could use the thing with her MacBook Pro. 300 for the enclosure and another 600 for a 2070 super to drive the index since I don’t think the spare 1070 I got sitting around can drive 2880x1600 with decent settings at 90fps consistently, especially since she’ll be using parallels to VM windows. That’s more than 2k already for what could end up being a glorified tiltbrush setup and not much else.

Recommended games?

I'm mostly going off that LTT video too - but I find it interesting in that same vid he is very down on the Vive Pro as being not worth the money at all over his regular Vive, so I figure that gives a baseline that he's not just pleased cos he got it for free.

Tetris Effect, Beat Saber, Super Hot are all very good and pleasant for VR noobs (low artificial motion).

What do you guys think? Trying to keep a 1500€ Budget.

Gaming performance comes first, but nVidia + Intel would be better due to machine learning libraries I use for work, as they just run better on that combo. But if I can save decent money and keep performance the same, I might say **** it to work performance.

My only criticism is I think you should get a 1440p 144hz monitor instead for about 200 more.

I have this one: (and the G-Sync one)

https://www.amazon.it/Asus-MG278Q-Ga...gateway&sr=8-1

IPS panel, 1440p, 144hz. It's great for both productivity and gaming.

I don't know what's going on with this monitor to make it so cheap but it's also a VA panel like hte MSI you linked.

32", 1440p, 144hz. 279,00 €

https://www.amazon.it/Samsung-C32JG5...NWYJU7H&sr=8-8

I think both are better than the MSI you linked.

Might try for an i7 if you can but seems like a nice rig for the money considering all the stuff you are getting.

Hey Guys,

Years back I built a gaming PC which has since been reassigned as my office computer. It is no longer capable of handling new games but is great for my office. It handles my day to day business use and runs all Adobe software without issue.

My motherboard recently died and I would like to replace it. The problem is I can't find mb that works with this older processor/ram etc... I assume there must be something out there and I'm just looking in the wrong place. I don't want to give up this PC, it's perfect for my business needs.

Can anyone point me in the direction of a compatible mb? I'm in Canada in case that matters.

Here is the current build.
