Frenzy charge ranger boring so far. No real aoe sucks. I guess I could do frenzy + melee splash + increased area of effect + melee physical damage? Not sure that works without mana leech gem too though.

Tree at the moment: http://www.pathofexile.com/passive-s...PuDu_w-WP8xQ==

Maybe I should go +ele damage? I don't have any DPS problems at the moment - I one shot everything, albeit only A1 cruel. Then I'd aim for something like: http://www.pathofexile.com/passive-s...P7CfxL_E78xQ==

Dual wielding Vaal's Rebuke might be fun for later game DPS but maybe I need to build more specifically for that.

Or I could entirely switch focus and try for frenzy single target + quill rain/explosive arrow or something. Probably more fun.

Yessir. I've basically never gone bow before. Took Pressure Points instead of Deadly Draw as it's fewer passive points and similar outcome (50 chance, 30 multiplier in 3 instead of 55/40 in 5).

I guess I then just go +phys damage on bows and rely on fast attack speeds to get decent DPS. What should I go for as single & multi target skills if I don't have much +ele damage?

Honestly, I'd stick to physical and get 'add cold damage' for your rain of arrows. Nice to have a little snare to go with the aoe. IIRC, lightning ele is the best dps for archer, but if you go physical then you will end up with a lot more armor. Honestly an archer can turn anything into swiss cheese given the mana, so I'm not sure the point of more dps. Manaflows seems tempting for 3 more nodes. #theguywhonevermadeittolevel40

Why are you skipping the elemental resists? Plan to never get that close? I find cold mobs particularly annoying.

You need the extra DPS for maps - 3k dps doesn't really cut it there, which is what I'm mostly worried about with this build.

Also resists don't matter - I can get that from gear. The same for mana, I hope (or bm gem)

Has anyone toyed around with the idea of a build built around the idea of redoing a bunch of passives when you get to end game? You should have 18 points (never used those, can you kill anything that doesn't sever other nodes completely?) when you get to end game, so it seems like it might be a good idea to plan a build where you get passives that are really good in the early game but become less valuable over time. Like say a scion who gets some resists early, but then blows those nodes away at end game because they have gear that covers that aspect.

Rewards seem kind of crappy though until you get to the 220 point unique ring which looks amazing cept i will never ever get enough points for that.

That's how you do all the CI builds, though haven't done it myself.

Can you get by with literally no health nodes in SC?

Man. Work sucks, can't look at the rewards. How do the points work?

It varies based on the race. e.g. for reaching level 6 in the 2 hour solo, you get 1 point. 34 gets you 10 points. You also get points for complete clears of some maps, for finishing some quests first and for the top 20 ranks of each class.

Wow Divination Distillate for only 135 points, glad I sold mine lol

Unfortunately I won't be able to really be competitive in the races longer than 1hr, my puppy needs to go out like every 1.5 hrs

Does anyone know if you can get points for multiple characters?

For example, if it gives 3 points for reaching level 6, could you make two characters reach level 6 for a total of 6 points?

I think it's probably points per account rather than character

You can click on the race event and it'll take you to another page that shows you the breakdown of points.

This link takes you to the points for the 2hr Solo: http://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/616082

I believe you must be alive at the end to win points. I think the Endless Ledge still allows points even after death. Make sure to read the rules.

Yes, I've used this strategy a lot in the past for soloing party races

funny enough I died again to a dc after breaking through problems with mana and dps on my new ranger, it's getting pretty disheartening. my internet didn't go down, it just slowed for a 2-3 minutes passing sometimes a few bytes through - that caused my char to stay in the instance (even though it was pretty much cleared, something must have come)

let's race.

edit: sorry to someone who lended me malachai's simula, would you like me to buy it again? or I could pay you back if you buy another one. this was totally unexpected and I rarely have internet problems, there was some serious issue with cable from our area a week ago and I guess even though it was fixed 24 hours later they didn't fix everything 100%, sigh.
