Do you not starting getting the delving mats until you're in maps or something? Definitely not as easy to delve going into Act 8 as it was in Delve. Any my cyclone summoner isn't fast enough for the temples or at least not for the first one...

Yeah, it was a lightning warp arc elementalist.

Too squishy vs. syndicate and too expensive to gear though. Maybe during vacation after finals.

I really wanna get into PoE but man does it look overwhelming to get started.

Also I really dislike the idea of having to play with the map opened in the middle of the screen 99% of the time.

There is a lot of content, but you can just get going and give it a shot. Check out Engineering Eternity on YouTube for a great resource, maybe pick a build of his, and roll with it (you can pause the video and read the written guides liked in the comments). Character building is definitely the most complicated thing, and if you just follow a recipe the first time, you can have some success while learning the ropes.

The best thing about POE is that it is low risk, the only thing required to get into it is your time. There is a ton of information on the internet about it so it's fairly easy to get your questions answered and the 2+2 guild is very helpful. Watch a few beginners videos on youtube and pick find a build that looks interesting.

imo its one of those things like not seeing ur nose or your glasses

you get used to it.

And it helps a lot. As long as u disable the extra art on the map and make the paths clearer

I have 500 hours and I have no idea what's going on in the game and they've probably doubled the amount of content in it since I stopped playing. You'll learn to master a commercial flight sim with no manual or outside help before mastering PoE with all the learning resources it has available.

In about a month I have ~60 hours played.

As a new player, I suggest looking for builds that are "league starters" because getting into the end game is truly overwhelming and some builds really are awful (now I realize arc inquisitor/elementalist is unplayable without totems or Poet's Pen) really crucial pieces that are pretty out of reach for players just starting out.

When they say "cap resistances", they mean cap elemental resistances not including Chaos.

So... I'm already thinking about my next build.

I'd love good ST DPS (think double poet's pen arc level, not necessary to be able to kill shaper in 2 seconds), melee, uber map clear (think cast on crit/hit bladefall/arc type of thing), good leech, and something that involves carrying an army behind me (think herald of purity).
