Yeh I'm pretty much done, just mucking about on standard occasionally when I'm bored.

I get the whole crafting route they've been focussing on recently, it just doesn't do anything for me.

The league mechanic is OK. Not gonna call it good because it's tedious. I don't know how people get so confused by it.

The problem is GGG has cluttered the game up with too many things going core instead of bringing it back with Zana mods.

Yeah you can get some decent returns with memory modifiers even if the "reward" nodes kinda suck. It's pretty tedious having to manage patching with a 10 memory storage cap, though. With like 20, it'd be far easier to just go to the nexus for a while and do it rather than spending more time wondering which memory to keep than actually running them.

im of the complete opposite opinion on this.

the betrayal/incursion/delve (and spells reworks) are saving this league from being absolute crap.

Nexus is bad both on concept and rewards, can literally be avoided without missing anything.

Betrayal straight up kills people in HC because of lag with intervention. It happened to me with a 1000ms ping spike and logout maco not preventing death. Hopefully they fix it this patch. I actually like Betrayal but it's not implemented greatly atm.

Incursion is aight. Nothing special except for double corruptions and maps. It's kind of too repetitive to be great.

Delve is probably the only very very good league they've since Breach because it offers something not as monotonous as spamming maps.

yeah the lag and crashes are awful of course (had none of those personally). I probably love betrayal as much as Delve but I'd probably hate it in hardcore .

Looks like they're about to overhaul a ton about the league content, esp. reward stuff.

Brag: I get a spontaneous abyss in the middle of a high level memory, hooray!
Variance: After triggering it, it heads right to the middle of a rando patch of Alzheimer's.
Beat: It proceeds to spawn nothing, as nothing can escape the Alzheimer's event horizon. It won't move, and there's nothing to kill to try to send it anywhere else. I get nothing.

Just started playing the game yesterday and am already completely addicted to the kill, loot, sell, level up loop the game has. Only thing that is really confusing to me is how the memories and the nexus work.

Did a youtube search for explanations and couldn't understand half of what the people were talking about.

Can someone recommend a good youtube or twitch guide for complete noobs?

Hi this is one of the worst league for a beginner as the league mechanics are awfull.
some good beginner channels:
https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCaF...7a6Q/playlists
engineering eternity channel (not sure his beginner's guide are updated but they are good for all base mechanics).
The other one very noob friendly is ziggyd channel:
https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC4m...qk4y9lVFtfanlg
Even the pro streamers watch his league explanation videos since he tries to engage with league specific content very early.

also check out liftingnerdbro channel ,here's one with beginner's builds:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MCUAxqjkmTQ

Until you are really familiar with the game, the consensus is to follow a build to the letter.
Look up for cheap beginner builds either on youtube or on the POE forums (which contains lot of guides really well explained).
To pick a build choose a skill that you like and search for builds with that skill in the name (ex:winter orb build, molten strike build...etc.).

Some good sites that you'll have open all the time :
https://poe.ninja/challenge/currency
helps for trading and checking overall prices, also contains a build section.

https://www.pathofexile.com/trade/search/Synthesis
to look for specific items, copy paste in chat to initiate trading.

pathofbuilding (not sure which site to download from) is the ultimate build tool.

Following build guides from PoE forums to a T can be problematic. If you're going to do that read the comments to see if there's negative feedback. Problem with those guides is they claim to have higher dps than they actually are sometimes or have mirror tier gear, and some of them have flat out bad pathing, wonky info, or sometimes little defenses for SC and even in SC you kinda wanna make your toons a lil tanky as a beginner.

Finished act 5 today with my toxic rain trickster shadow following a build I found online.

https://docs.google.com/document/d/1...1ngl60Rk/edit#
Gave up on my original character at level 38 when I couldn't get past the 1st Izaro Fight in the Labyrinth. Really enjoying the game with this character.

Still confused by some of the side areas like the nexus and haven't really tried the mines yet, but hopefully by end-game I will figure them out.

Yeah that's a good build for a new player. Engineering Eternity puts together generally solid content that includes key details like leveling strategies and caveats about expensive gear that are essential to a new player.

As far as side content, I usually run the Vaal side areas I encounter while going through the acts (they can be good for fulfilling achievements and getting some good vaal gems), but you aren't missing much by skipping the mine (now that low level delving has been largely stripped of the valuable fossils), the time travel temple, or the nexus. At this point in the game, they aren't likely to drop anything good enough to justify deviating from plowing ahead in the plot into higher level content, which will unlock better gear faster than grinding the nexus or the like. The nexus and temple level up automatically as you go, too. Niko digs the mine for you up to a point as well. The syndicate content can be valuable regardless of your level, but it is both in your face and not really skippable, and you are unlikely to get any substantial payoff before completing act 10 even if you do.

When you complete act 10, you will probably want to look up some guides to the nexus, mine, and syndicate to see at least some basic strategies for getting value out of them.

Didn't know you played wookie. I haven't played much in the last cpl years, but have gone hard in synthesis. Hit 96 on my cold vortex and wonder if im gonna uninstall or do another build. Have like 30 ex and jsut 6L'd my eternity shroud. Have and 800 es vaal regalia atm. Am a semi crafter but want to do a life build and make some op non es stuff.

Thanks to everyone ITT for being so helpful, it is greatly appreciated.

Got ahold of a Quill Rain unique Bow today that the build guide I'm following is based around and HOLY CRAP does this thing kick ass with toxic rain.

Will be finishing up Act 10 tonight hopefully. Does anyone have any basic mapping advice?

Thanks again to everyone who has been so helpful.

Use transmute and augment/alteration for white maps (that make them blue magic) and use alchemy orbs for yellow maps+ (that makes them rare).
Mainly because alchs are expensive so you save them for the higher tier maps.
Fill your atlas as much as you can, getting the map bonus when you run the map for the 1st time (hover over map on the atlas to see bonus to unlock).
Maps drops are enhanced by the total atlas bonus, so it is crucial to complete the most bonuses you can.
Since you are learning, just run everything you can and level up along the way.
You can buy some missing maps from zana or trade them.
Use shaper orbs on maps you like.
Look on the atlas for the icons that indicate master missions.
You can vendor 3 identical maps to get 1 map a tier higher.

Took me forever to figure out how to import my character into path of building today. Didn't realize I had to import skills and the passive tree separately.

Anyway, here are my current stats. I know my resistances are kinda screwed up at the moment. Trying to out new helmet and gloves, but that's where most of my lightning resistance came from. Will fiddle around with the tons of rings and amulets I have stashed to try to bring up lightning.

Am I at the point now where I should start using orbs of scouring on equipment to craft higher level resistances? Or should I just grind for better loot and save the orbs?

Also looking at my stats, is there anything I should try to improve?

Don't scour your gear. The crafting bench can only add a single mod to an item unless you are quite rich, and there is no way you have a base valuable enough to justify spending that much on crafting. Instead, throw all your gear onto the bench to try to find a piece with an open affix to let you add resistance. If you aren't all the way capped, just continue into maps and keep an eye out for decent rares, or if you are in the main league instead of SSF, then just spend a few chaos orbs buying something better than what you have.

Most builds start to feel good around lvl 80 and most people consider the build complete at lvl 90-93.
Those are not set in stone obviously, but the idea is you kinda do whatever you can to reach the level where you can use all your final gear (after uber lab I'd say).
So at lvl 71 you are pretty much a draft of your build, you're almost there but still a draft.
There are major power spikes when you get the items with the good links and gems configurations, when you do the uber lab and when you get those last 10 points that usually gives you all the jewels slots too.
You should join the 2+2 guild, you can get help in game with questions and items, etc...
I quit really early this league so I won't be the one to help you there.
