I predict this game will be a total flop.

I'm okay with $40. I hope it's not $5 per hero after that but let's just be realistic and assume that is coming. We already know that Blizzard is stingy as **** with their F2P model so $40 for 21 heroes is probably a way better deal then you would get if they did this pure F2P. $40 in HotS gets you dick all.

You think? People were paying $100 for hearthstone beta keys at one point. It'll probably go ftp at some point but why not convert all that streamer hype into cash right away?

I'm not sure it's possible to "lol Blizzard." Have they made one misstep (from a business standpoint) in the past 17 years? Everything they touch turns to gold, no matter how salty their player base gets.

diablo 3 overall was a pretty big failure but they still sold a lot (but a lot less than they couldve afterwards)

Even Diablo Reaper of Souls was a commercial success most game companies would kill for. The Blizzard fanbase assumes Blizzard eventually will fix their games even if it starts out as a disappointment.

How many of today's Hearthstone players does that describe? Obviously there's a healthy population of Blizzard fanboys out there that will give up their firstborn to play Overwatch, but when you look at this game's competition and see stuff like free MOBAs, free TF2, or $20 but frequently on sale CS:GO - what is this game going to do to prove to the wider gaming market that it's worth $40? Especially when
- Heroes of the Storm is free and afaik couldn't beat the two largest MOBAs, even with the weight of Blizzard behind it
- I don't think this style of game is likely to capture the Call of Duty crowd that would pay a lot for this sort of game

I admit this is a total HOT TAKE and I could definitely be wrong. But that's why I said this price point seems like lol Blizzard.

None of the d1/d2 players hyped Reaper of Souls because by that time they had quit D3 and were spewing on every forum they could find. But the expansion was still a huge commercial success. Same will be true for Overwatch. People are already pre-ordering it for no reason at all and without having played it.

Game has a fun factor, but isn't amazing. I was never really a huge fan of TF2. I'm clearly bad at this game and it's very obvious who has been playing for awhile. I have tried maybe a third of the heroes so far and have only liked Widowmaker.

The novelty of getting in is exciting, but I don't think anybody is really missing out. I don't see it being worth paying for (at this point).
