Apparently this phase of beta will be over before the end of the year so it won't be long until the beta is open or at least semi-open (similar to Heroes of the Storm). Just play TF2 in the meantime.

Game is pretty ****ing fun

Took me 5 games of doing nothing to figure out what's going on. Then started getting kill streaks, top objective scores, etc. Think I'm going to main Winston for now.

I've been watching a few different streams and I think I'll pass when it comes out. Not my type of game.

I have noticed that Pharah tethered to the healer is OP. I watched Summit play with a few other streamers against the devs the other night. The devs that tethered those 2 chars were humiliating everyone else. They're gonna have to fix that before the release.

Played a few games last night and wasn't that into it. Not sure if there's more than one game mode (I played one where you first try to stop the enemy from controlling an objective, then when they got it some train took off that they were trying to advance down a road to an endpoint and we had to stop them) but it felt like I spent half the game running from my spawn point to the place where the actual action was happening. That "price" of dying is terrible and super not fun, and feels like it runs counter to the nature of a game that's supposed to be fast-paced and frenetic.

I wasn't even dying a ton necessarily, I got a 12 kill streak at one point in that game and we won. Just wasn't very fun for me. :/

****ing goofy first try getting longer killstreaks than I have in like 5-10h of play must be pretty skilled mate.

I really like the games where a zone has to be captured first, then the payload has to be escorted. Better than two zones or just one payload. I dunno, I'm having a lot of fun but maybe my standards are lower because I've never played any PC games.

Got my invite last night. Woke up a bit early today to play a few rounds before work.

Seems fun so far. Obviously there is a lot of characters to learn but it seems to be an extremely easy pick up and play type game. Looks like it will be somewhat catering to casuals in that it hides the scoreboard and k/d ratio of people aside from the people who had the top metrics at the end of the match.

I'll echo the comment that hopefully game modes will be expanded on. I also found it strange that the matches didn't flip offense/defense the way lots of these attack/defend type game modes usually work.

They just announced at Blizzcon you have to buy the game. It comes in two versions: A PC version ($39.99) and a Origins version for PC, Xbox One, PS4 ($59.99).

But they made sure to announce the bought version comes with the 21 current heroes plus they showed skins so I'm guessing they will have micro-transactions on top.

Thinking about it more, I think that is fair to say. They are offering the game out to PS4 and XB1, just like Diablo 3, so it only makes sense that it's going to cost something for PC as well. I originally thought this was going to be a F2P game like Team Fortess 2, along with how they handled Hearthstone and Heroes of the Storm. I expected Blizzard to keep moving towards the F2P model, but now with the addition of the console games, I highly doubt it happens.

Also, they said the game would be released Spring 2016, but disclaimer that with on or before 6/21/16. Spring 2016 ends 6/19/2016 so it could be quite awhile yet. They make you think Spring is only a few months away when in reality I would speculate they are looking more on the "closer to Summer" time frame.

Hmm. Was expecting F2P as well, but it makes sense with it going to consoles.

I watched the Blizzcon opener, and they were very careful to say that the "base game" comes with all the announced heroes.

$40 + $5 per hero after that is going to be pretty ****ty.

Wait, are there any modern FPS games that let PC and console gamers play together?

If Overwatch is going to be coming to consoles, then this would be the first shooter to toss PC and console into the same pool since the Shadowrun debacle?

They've actually enabled aim-assist for PC users with controller input, so it makes sense. RIP poor console bastards. Bow down to your PC overlords tricking the game into giving them aim-assist while also using KB/Mouse.

is it confirmed player pools are together?

I haven't seen that anywhere. Would be quite surprised if they were tbh.

I doubt the different platforms share a player pool.
