This new spectator mode is a big improvement. The World Cup has been a lot of fun to watch. USA-Korea in an hourish, get hyped!

Match has been epic so far; a lot of people didn't expect Korea to lose a single map. The Mercy meta has eaten into Korea's biggest strength: their massive support edge in the world's best Ana/Zen and best Lucio. If they could ever be beat it's probably now.

The most consistently crushing Widow gameplay I've ever seen in a pro match. Flow3r is a prodigy, can play any hero at a ridiculously high level.

as insane as flower was, the korea tracer may have been better. just underrated cuz not as many highlight-worthy shots. korea tracer outplayed sinatra pretty consistently and had some real clutch stalls. but flower's widow was truly nuts.

It's almost inevitable that France lose the 3/4 playoff as they were so dispirited after losing to Korea. Sweden had had time to recover.

I was impressed to see ~260k simultaneous viewers across the languages.

The visual changes were good, though I think they need home/away kits. Blue and white were too similar at times.

Slow-mo and pauses were good, but they probably need more practice using them. I'd still be a lot happier if there were meters to show overall team health & ult percentages, you can see more easily who is ahead in a fight. By the time you've scanned the top bars of health for each player, someone else has died.

Also, what's up with the 'London' team being owned by a North American, populated entirely by Koreans? Am I meant to be rooting for them because I'm a Londoner? http://wiki.teamliquid.net/overwatch...eague/Season_1

I am so tired of the ladder/placement system.

I'm 100% convinced my true SR is around 2300. I had a bad season early on and didn't play very much til earlier this year, consistently get stuck around 1700-2000. Doesn't matter how well I do on placements. 2 seasons ago I went 8 wins, sure enough, 1650. This season I ****ed around with heroes I never play, went 3-7 and got 1700 again.

I'm not saying I'm an amazing player or anything but there is a weird thing that happens around 1800-2000 where you just cannot get out. The skill disparity is appalling. You have players who barely seem to know what they're doing, I'm talking like falling in pits for no reason and then blaming healers for dying. then a mixture of people like me who clearly don't belong where they are. I get accused of being a smurf all the time when I have good games on my DPS heroes.

Serious Q, how do I get out? I think I need to put in a ****load of volume and just grind it out, because I only play 2 or 3 games a session. Inevitably I get frustrated and stop playing. Happens every single season.

Silver is an absolute cluster****. I've played in gold games with friends and on friend's accounts, around ~2400 SR avg, and the difference is amazing. Small sample size I'm sure but the games are like night and day, people are trying and communicating, comp is never in question, people willing to switch when things aren't working out, etc. Those games do happen occasionally in high silver, but it's rare. I could hang in the high gold games I played so I know I can perform there, and don't feel my game is going to improve much until i get there.

Pick a dps and insta-lock it. If you see an opportunity with the map and team comp to switch to make a major impact, then do it, but otherwise just grind a single hero.

That hero at your rank should probably be soldier.

Personally, I don't join team chat anymore, it ruins way more experiences than it improves, and people are 90% wrong about what is going on.

The key is to just instantly lock the dps and hope people build around you. If your team is 4 dps, I would honestly not switch and hope someone eventually does.

The key to climbing is improving at the game, and limiting variables. By Insta locking soldier you are putting yourself in a situation where if you are truly better, you will climb.

That’s kind of the conclusion I’ve come to. Bad DPS loses games at this rank, period. And almost all people who turbo pick DPS are pretty bad.

I can hang with rein, been 60% with him for a while but not climbing. He's heavily dependent on having a decent team around you. It's probably a volume thing too. But, about a month ago I played against a 3 leaver team on junktown, and we had a full comp, and they nearly won the game with 3 dps. Comp barely matters at this rank so I should probably just pick DPS and **** it.

it sucks so bad playing with 5 dps comp though.

that's another thing though. I don't understand how you can be 60% winrate with any hero and not climb. That's largely been my experience with rein. I think it's something to do with non-dps roles getting shafted on the SR boosts for "performance" when there are many intangibles that go along with win % that are not factored in by the current system, especially when you play tank.
