moonmoon puts in 40 hours a week and has a biphasic sleep schedule. that sounds like absolute hell. but that seems to be what he's into, and he's gotta be raking in all the gold.
i come from this thinking that blizzard hasn't really build overwatch to be a successful e-sport, and there's only so much time you get to build a huge brand on overwatch, which means limited time. limited time means get those monies now while you can.
It's just a massive opportunity cost to play pro vs streaming. Even if he won every tournament, streamed on the side, got a few more endorsements, etc... it's hard to imagine that even coming close to putting in say 4 hours 6 days a week of streaming (for seagull).
That being said, I don't really think streaming is going anywhere at this point. I'd wager that in a few years, even if OW is on the backburner to some other FPS he could make a really solid income streaming OW or a different game just because he's so nasty at it. Maybe it's not as risky as I think.
As a 22 year old, the option to put a million bucks in the bank would be so amazing. You just never know if the opportunity will still be there.
