They actually buffed his mobility a little, making it easier for him to maneuver midair.

He's about a 50% winrate at gold, which is exactly where the balance should be.

Cool!

Finally got my first 2017 winter skin with those free loot boxes. Bastion. Not really at the top of my list, but still nice.

Also got the Moira David Bowie skin, which I really wanted.

And speaking of Moira, she's incredible. I haven't even done all my competitive placement matches and might not, but I have been having so much fun with her in QP. I know it's only QP, but holy ****, I dominate pretty much every match with her. Even if I don't, she's a ton of fun to play with. Versatile, powerful, and requires a lot of constant thought and strategy.

I still don't "get" how to play as Moira. I had my first good game as her, but it was in Mystery Heroes. I felt like I did so much and like I got the hang of how to play as her. So I took her into QP. Nope, it was just me playing against a bunch of people playing characters they don't normally play. Absolutely sucked the next few games as Moira before I finally switched to Mercy.

Who knows if I'm actually any good with her, as I've only played with her once in competitive (and didn't even finish my placement matches in a low tier this season), but I tend to play her much more aggressively than I play other characters (one of my weaknesses is I tend to be too passive, generally).

Certainly, she can't be front line, but if I find an opportunity to 1v1 someone, especially a squishy, I go after them. The damage orb plus damage beam is pretty deadly. If I need to, I'll throw a healing orb to heal myself, but unless I'm just getting wailed on, the small heal from the damage beam works fine. Sometimes I get a little too cocky and realize too late that her damage beam isn't as strong as Symmetra's.

It is really important to keep track of the Fade ability. I try not to use it going into a fight because it is key to use during a battle to get out of trouble (either to continue to **** up the opponent or to just get out). The cooldown is fairly short, too, but to me, it's one of the more important abilities of any hero to really know what the cooldown status is.

When not in the thick of a battle, just throwing the damage orb into a crowd, especially in a choke/hallway/room is great. Softens them up so your team can finish them off. It also takes out Sym turrets and builds ult quickly.

Her ult isn't great and it is very easy to get overconfident with it. You are very vulnerable when ulting, as you can't Fade or heal yourself. It has a long reach, which is good, and is most useful for finishing off lots of low-health targets and for mass healing teammates in a big fight (or defending against some ults).

Summary: I spam the damage orb into crowds, find opportunities to 1v1 loners, manage my Fade ability, and keep healing with the heal spray as much as possible while regenerating it when I can with the damage beam.

For me, though, the big thing with Moira is she is just really fun to play with. I really like her versatility and the need to be cerebral with her. Even if I do poorly, I still have a blast with her.

I think the healing orb should be used whenever possible - massive AOE heal that will charge up your ult faster and heals a larger amount of HP than damage the other orb does. Of course, it's all situational - but Moira should be gold in healing imo

That's a valid point.

Like you said, it's all situational. So far, I've found the damage orb to be more useful. I'll hover just behind my team, throw the damage orb to soften up the opponent, and use the spray to heal in bursts (one key is that it keeps healing for a second after you stop, so you don't have to hold down left click very long). I'll creep up into the pack to do some right click damage in order to recharge my healing, if need be.

When I find opportunities to pick someone off 1v1 style, I'll jump out and get aggressive. If we have the other team on their heels, all the better - I spam the damage orb through chokes while right clicking the damage beam.

I guess it's a matter of finding it more useful to hurt the other team and help your teammates get elims or to heal your team and help them not get eliminated. I find with the damage orb and healing spray, I can do both.

The times I use the healing orb the most are when my team is too far up ahead of me and when we are in a huge fight where we need a ton of healing - I'll just bust the orb at our feet and spray heal. Additionally, more "divey" comps get more of the healing orb, while more "tanky" comps get the spray.

This is what is so much fun about her, though. There are so many options. Some games you need to focus more on healing, other games your team might have another strong healer so you can focus more on damage. I love it.

I hope to have more time to play competitive so I can see if my success in QP translates. I've barely played competitive the last couple seasons and am still ranked low - I'd love to try to main Moira to try to climb.

EDIT: I've found I'm usually gold healing with her, though Mercy and Lucio can push me to silver. I often get gold healing, damage, and elims with Moira, but I'm guessing that wouldn't happen as much with a decent competitive comp, as opposed to the random QP comps we get.

im also a moira fan an a Quick Play enthusiast. If i'm playing with another healer i'll use the damage options more of course, but i generally always am using the damage beam and the healing orb in combo.

I do love sometimes when you see a group of enemies in a confined area and just shoot the damage orb into the space and let it ricochet around and you always come up with a kill it seems.

in QP im generally silver in elims, gold in damage, and gold in healing on moira, but im guessing most of these DPS players are crap.

junkrat nerf- mines do less damage, rumor'd that the ult tire moves slower.

mercy fairly huge nerf- ult ~half the length, only 1 Resurrection and its not instant. rumor'd that she now moves slower.

Here's the official patch notes for Mercy:

https://us.battle.net/forums/en/over...ic/20760768026
  • No longer makes Resurrect instant
  • No longer grants a bonus charge of Resurrect
  • The speed boost that Guardian Angel receives has been decreased by 50%
  • Duration reduced from 20 seconds to 15 seconds

Seems to make her unplayable. I imagine this gets tweaked before going live.

Looks like the Junkrat nerf is only to the mine, not the tire.

Glad Mercy is getting nerfed. When one team has Mercy and the other doesnt the game is awful for the non Mercy side.

i enjoyed it for a stretch because it forced a lot more diversity in map-dependent selection, you had more viable sniper comps, more viable shield comps, you could see triple DPS or triple tank

the obv fear in next meta is that dive is gonna dominate again, and it probably will. tracer/genji/dva/winston/lucio comps will crush

Maybe, but remember the next hero is pretty far along. Jeff says this hero is going to be "meta changing". So even if the meta goes back dive for awhile its could very well be a short lived change.

In Mystery Heroes, players used to kill themselves outside of spawn if they didn't like the hero they were given so that they could respawn as a different hero. A while back, Blizzard updated the game so that if you do this, you are just given the same hero again.

That's good! I like that.

Last night, I saw a problem with its implementation. Someone on the other team was a Pharah main and when he would thought he was going to die, he would kill himself intentionally so that he would respawn as Pharah again. Another player noticed he kept getting Pharah and he explained what he was doing.

Obviously, it's not foolproof, as there will be plenty of times someone won't be able to kill themselves before the enemy does, but Pharah does seem like one of those characters where this is the most possible. Unless she's one-shot sniped, she has good survivability and she certainly has the ability to kill herself without finding a cliff.

anyone think this game would be better if each hero could only be picked once? draft before the match like mobas

watched a good amount of the ow league and every single match is just the exact same mercy/zen/dva/winston/widow/(genji/tracer)
