I am amazed that people think songs by the Beatles will be any fun to play on guitar or drums
Yes, to listen to, but not to play on Rock Band. This game will suck ass, but tons of people will mindlessly pay their money, further incentivizing the company to put out a sub-par product because who the hell cares if it still makes money? I asked how old he was but I figured that older RB/GH players will be the ones to purchase this game, but who knows?
This game isn't really catering to the hardcore RB/GH players. The game is geared towards introducing a new generation to experience Beatles music. They went through tons of old master tapes to get high fidelity audio, for each instrument. They got studio banter from recording sessions. They have introductions from the Ed Sullivan show, as well as crowd screaming. They have painstakingly tried to recreate the visuals for every aspect of their career. They have different characters for different eras of their career. They recreated the venues, From the Ed Sullivan show, to recreating parts from one of their movies, studio sessions, the famous last apple rooftop concert, Cavern Club, Shea stadium, etc. They got creative input from Paul, Ringo, George's son, George Martin's son, and Yoko. They even made custom instruments so it's like you're playing what they were playing. All of these things added together point towards careful, painstaking planning and execution of a great Beatles experience for newcomers and hardcore fans alike. They're also re-releasing the Beatles albums in both stereo/mono on the same date, which btw is highly anticipated by many Beatles fans, and tries to take how people experience music to the next level.
BTW I'm 25 and a huge Beatles fan. I don't think any part of this game will suck. One of my friends that has never owned a RB/GH product has already pre-ordered this game, and she's very excited to get it. Most of the reason I like the RB/GH games is that I love the music. I don't really care about how challenging a song will be to play on RB/GH or whatever metric you use to see if a song will be fun to play. The reason I find songs fun to play on RB/GH is if I like the song or not; this is also the metric that anyone I know that's played the game uses too. I love ALL the songs they've included on the game, much like most Beatles fans, and it will be great fun for us Beatles fans to play. I don't really see how this game is a "moneygrab" any more so than video games in general are a "moneygrab". This game seems to take what's great about RB/GH, and extend it to make it more of a full experience of the band and their career. I really hope they continue to make games like this, that try to painstakingly recreate careers of the behemoths of the music world, in an interactive environment. If you want to call GH:Aerosmith or GH:Metallica a "moneygrab", I can't say I disagree, but in this case, I feel you are flat out wrong.
