So one thing I'm worried about is the lack of outside vision when playing this thing. Like, when I was playing Privateer there were a ton of buttons for random stuff that you could do while flying. (for example, move power to shields, set coordinates, change target, communicate with wingman) You can take care of a lot with a good flight stick/throttle with some buttons or whatever, but what about all those other commands you need to be able to look at a keyboard to enter?

That was the concern of a lot of people but it has been worked around, you can have an almost limitless amount of commands, you just need to say them, so for example you can say whilst in VR fully in game.

"Computer maximum speed", or "full speed", or maximum impulse etc,
The computer will recognize it and perform a key action, what ever you assign it, corresponding.

The software is called voice attack, I stayed away from it but then spent about 3 hours on it the other day, its only $8 and also has a 20 trail period.

Because I am playing elite and dangerous, I asked what should I know about voice attack and got linked this: http://www.elitedangerousvoicepack.com/

Watch the videos there to get an idea,
Voice attack is pretty awesome, its worth downloading the trial 20 day. It can output to any program, game.

On action of the command you can have the computer be set to play an audio file, kind of like a confirmation, so think like star trek.

voice attack should be basically be built into modern VR games in the future, and the start of the games build up the commands in the players head. Also our hands are going to be able to be seen in game for touching of virtual buttons.

What is basically happening now is the VR industry is just starting, I'm happy to be in at day zero and be involved, War thunder is so amazing I cant even find time to get into elite and dangerous and it is hugely impressive, war thunder is free.... and its as good if not better in my opinion.

One thing is for sure, gamers are in for a treat, there is no previous comparison of the level of jump, the change, its a generational change, its not a gimmick or a false promise, most any one that puts one on that is against vr or not convinced take it off and all say, wow this is going to change every thing.

The list of people that are working now at Oculus is hugely impressive, they basically have one of the most impressive collection of bright people ever put together towards a common cool goal

In the Oculus Rift Configuration tool there is a demo of you sitting behind a table,

That could easily be a poker table.

Oculus Connect Keynote

It's a few hours long. Michael Abrash is pretty early on and then Carmack speaks for about ninety minutes. Amazing stuff.

I don't know. I haven't watched all of it. There's no news. It's just dev talk. Just watch Carmack. He's always worth every second. Oh, and Michael Abrash is later in the second video. He's always really good, too.

"At one point in the UE4 finale of the Crescent Bay demo, with bullets whizzing past and cars exploding, I became distracted by a puddle. I leaned in for a closer look and saw the texture of the asphalt and the reflectivity of the water and it felt utterly normal, as if I was leaning over a puddle on the street in real life. It was simultaneously the most mundane and the most amazing thing I’ve ever experienced in modern technology."

cant wait to smell rotten flesh and orcs food.
this flying machine looks cool for like 5 minutes maybe.
I want the headset one day but hate any games where u have to actually walk irl to walk.
I guess for shooters its cool (railshooters) as u still stand still.
people dont really want to move to play a game.

I don't find much of that stuff appealing, either. I think I'll just be happy with whatever control scheme they come up with for the hands over the next couple of years.

They should make a game where you are crippled. Say you wake up in a hospital and it is deserted. You find an electric wheelchair and have to escape whatever is chasing you using the limitations of the wheelchair kind of like how the old resident evil games used to prevent you from moving and shooting at the same time to increase tension. It would solve the disconnect of not moving your legs while playing the game and would be a cool new twist on the fps genre imo.

the big new news is that Assetto Corsa maybe getting dk2 support soon.

http://www.reddit.com/r/oculus/comme...iday_official/

I cant express how good this will be, I have Assetto corsa from steam and played on triple dell u2414h + g27, and the game is so awesome you cant imagine, and to even think for one moment that this game maybe getting Dk2 support... as a gamer, its beyond measure, you are talking about serious gaming material here, stuff that we can only dream about.

Here is a fun video of AS, they had Dk1 support but then they broke it at some point..

Your talking about getting into a car and it feeling real and looking like this.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=afMpH1sF-V0

Going to be ordering
3x Asus 27" (just 1920x1080 etc) to get back a nice triple screen.
Leaving my 780ti alone no need to upgrade maybe SLI if some thing comes up like star citizen.
Getting a Trustmaster t500 with separate gear shift.

If Asseto Corsa gets Dk2 support... INSTANTLY I will be shipping a wheel to my office or home, not even any question at all, one million percent I am knowing all about how *** awesome assetto corsa must / will be in dk2..

You talking about a game so awesome it might actually give people awesome heart attacks. like no sht for real.

... wow if it actually released with dk2 support,

Project Cars also has DK2 support. I haven't tried it yet but it's from the devs that did the Shift series and I thought they were pretty well done. Not sue if it's a pure sim like AC but it's always good to have options.
