Ah yea, you're right. I just read it again for context and that's what he's getting at.

Just got the Samsung gear vr. Haven't done much yet other than poke around the photo gallery and download one milk video.

What are some things to definitely check out?

Can someone list all the upcoming headsets and release dates?

With a prediction of which they think will be best in order and why?

Just curious.

havent tried it but oculus rift was in demo at the mall (which mainly sells clothes) and they made a virtual tour of the futur mall interior.
this mall is the latest place you would expect to see an OR.
this **** is going mainstream.

Valve/HTC Vive comes out holiday 2015. Oculus Rift and Morpheus for PS4 are early 2016.

Vive vs. Rift will probably come down to price and control scheme more than anything. I doubt that there will be any major differences in terms of resolution/framerate/screen quality, etc. I will be surprised if one of these headsets is clearly ahead of the other in terms of specs. I don't think that Oculus is really targeting the full room type of experience right now, whereas if you want to have a dedicated VR room up to 15' x 15', Vive is going to have some experiences specifically designed for that.

If you don't have a beefy gaming rig and own a PS4, Morpheus will be a good option. I think a lot of people are going to be very pleasantly surprised.
Here is a list of rumored and confirmed Morpheus titles.

Oculus just announced recommended specs for CV1.

Quote:
Taking all of this into account, our recommended hardware specification is designed to help developers tackle these challenges and ship great content to all Rift users. This is the hardware that we recommend for the full Rift experience:

-NVIDIA GTX 970 / AMD 290 equivalent or greater
-Intel i5-4590 equivalent or greater
-8GB+ RAM

The goal is for all Rift games and applications to deliver a great experience on this configuration by default. We believe this “it just works” experience will be fundamental to VR’s success, given that an underperforming system will fail to deliver comfortable presence.

The recommended spec will stay constant over the lifetime of the Rift. As the equivalent-performance hardware becomes less expensive, more users will have systems capable of the full Rift experience. Developers, in turn, can rely on Rift users having these modern machines, allowing them to optimize their game for a known target, simplifying development.

Apart from the recommended spec, the Rift will require:

-Windows 7 SP1 or newer
-2x USB 3.0 ports
-HDMI 1.3 video output supporting a 297MHz clock via a direct output architecture
The real news is that CV1 will be dual display / 2160x1200 @ 90Hz. That's the same resolution as the Vive.

Semes like that spec would struggle to maintain ultra settings at 90fps on current games, without all of the overhead of an additional rendering pass to a VR display vs. dumping a pixel buffer straight from the card to a standard screen. Not to mention any bigger budget VR games will probably aim to be compatible with consoles which are quite a bit weaker than this, that's going to have a big limiting impact on the kinds of games made and the worlds they'll attempt to build.

I think Star Citizen and Elite: Dangerous are probably going to remain a large step ahead of most other things released for VR in the next 3-4 years so far as graphics go. I also think games are going to be a temporary blip at start of the life-cyle of these things, and they'll end up being marketed and developed primarily for other industries. Total cynical speculation, but I think if they had held off this big VR push until near the end of this new and most likely last big console generation, things might have been more promising for VR gaming, but I think consoles are going to be a huge limiting factor. The audience isn't big enough on the PC side to fund the kind of time and resources it would take to create super-hi res worlds that can push current hardware to the limit, so I don't think we'll see indies make a big difference. What do you guys think?

VR Minecraft is amazing. I mean, I have no idea what will happen. It's a new platform with it's own set of rules. I don't graphical fidelity is all that important once you've really nailed down latency/head tracking/control scheme, etc.

The people running Vive demos were keeping track of how many people cried tears of joy and how many hugs they received. There's something undeniably different about VR gaming vs traditional gaming on a television. I don't believe that AAA games are going to be a requirement for this to take off.

Take a look at this list of confirmed and rumored games for Morpheus: http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthre...light=morpheus

I've read some extremely positive impressions of the controllers. A couple of them compared these favorably to the Vive controllers. I think I'm leaning toward the rift for now, but the wait is going to be really hard with Vive already available in the fall.

upgraded my gpu to the 980ti from the 980HOF,

playing dirt rally in the dk2 is like the next coming.

its unbelievable fun, pretty much is real life like your driving a rally car in real life.

Helps I have a proper obutto revolution and a t500.

I am going to be upgrading more hardware just for this game, going to spend around $1500 tomorrow has to come from the US and I have to pay %20 vat but has to be done
all just for this game so I have the correct driving kit.
I do play assetto corsa and also I am funding a few mod car projects and a track but its this game that has really captured my imagination, it IS NOT EASY.

Vendor that this game code masters, quality production.

Not just another tittle added to the growing games list that support dk2...

this game is good, really good.

dirt rally

Have a little look and see what it looks like, hope you enjoy it.
