Releases at midnight. Is supposedly very Dark Soulsish and is from Team Ninja (of the semi-recent good and difficult) Ninja Gaiden titles.

Getting killer reviews (haven't seen below 9/10 anywhere and is at 87 on metacritic) and I'm super hyped as Dark Souls 3 kind of disappointed me tbh.

Anyone else planning on buying this? Figured with as popular as the DS/Bloodborne threads are around here we might need one for this as well.

I'll be checking it out for sure but I basically can't see any action game ever topping Ninja Gaiden (Black).

Gaiden 2 and 3 were crap by comparison, if this game is anything like them. Eek.

Yeah from what I've read it seems to be a Black/DS hybrid which has me hyped. Will drop my thoughts after I play a few hours tonight.

Buy this. That is all. Didn't get to play as much as I wanted but am super tired. DS with more fluid combat is what I'm getting so far - though it's been quite a bit easier, which I expect to ramp up. Haven't even got out of tutorial yet.

Been watching a few streams of it.

Game definitely looks awesome. More actiony than DS, combat is faster and less defensive. Lots of Souls mechanics all over the place but also a lot of differences.

There are different battle stances and unlockable moves in a sort of skill tree, that combined with like 5-6 different core weapon types makes for very rich combat, tons of move sets and combos and what not.

Game seems to be broken up into missions which are basically just levels. Each mission is its own little world separate from the others. Lots of exploration and hidden stuff in each mission. Completed missions can be replayed to grind upgrades or level ups.

I'll seriously consider getting it, however the only downside to me personally is that the whole samurai/feudal Japan setting has never done anything for me ever, quite the opposite in fact. I've never found Far Eastern themed games particularly appealing.

Went to buy it at Best Buy and it was sold out. Apparently they only got 2 non pre-order copies and it's also backordered on their site.

This game is amazing. I have played for 6 hours and I'm addicted. I have around 2000 hours in SoulsBorne games so I've been praying to rn jesus that the combat in this game lived up to the hype.

The combat in this game lives up to the hype. Hyper fast and hyper technical. I haven't even begun to process all the myriad things going on with combat but dodging is exactly like BloodBorne.

I bought the season pass after 4 hours.

Now I'm kind of jelly/pissed because it's PS4 exclusive with apparently no plans for Xbox port. Gg.

I've completed the tutorial, one main mission, and one sub mission and I'm already ready to say if the quality, variety, and complexity keep up at the level they have been so far (and I'm assuming I've barely scratched the surface) this will overtake Dark Souls as my favorite game of this generation (by that I mean PS1 on). For real. It's that ****ing good. Buy it.

I'm not really sure how to say this in a way that makes any sense: it's as Soulsish as it can be without being Soulsish at all so far. Lol.

Bought it last night. Only got through the Tower of London Mission.

Feels incredibly Souls-ish. Feels a bit easier than DS so far but I'm obviously not far into the game at all.

I had this concern after the TOL and first main mission.

The second main mission is destroying me. Have spent pretty much all day on it and still haven't gotten very far past the second shrine/waypoint/whatever.
