I am curious if the Switch or a Wii U will be the best to play new Zelda on. It is still coming out for both right?

He Dave, yes it is coming out for both. I'm sure most would prefer the switch, but who knows. 2 things I would like to know are battery of course when removed, as well as the controller configurations (and size). The clip makes it seem like it is really small when playing it as a tablet.

You mean that 60" 4K HDR tv that spills over the sides of my tv stand because it's so huge?

No thanks.

My "entertainment center" is basically a shelf below my TV upon which everything currently fits perfectly. Switch would look great up there though I'd have to figure out how to fit it. Hope it runs at least 1080p on a TV though

Is your apartment a hallway?

Omg... please, no! For the love of God, no!

This is how you ruin a launch. This game has been pushed back years now. Wtf Nintendo?

Wii had a new Zelda at launch (pretty sure it's the only system to have done so)

Super Mario 64 was a launch title.

According to this wiki: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chrono...tendo_64_games

The third game for N64 was released over a month later. And basically 3 months later at Christmas, there were still only 8 games available for the system.

So it's practically confirmed to be 200GBP / 250USD (at the most). Very good price point!

I am looking forward to the Switch. It is cheap, innovative and will have fantastic exclusives. That's exactly what I want from a Nintendo system. It is pretty much guaranteed to have:
- Zelda Breath of the Wild
- new 3D Mario game (that looks like Mario64)
- Mario Kart
- Smash Bros
- Splatoon
All within the first few months of release, which is amazing (eventhough many will be enhanced Wii U ports).

Furthermore, a Xenoblade Chronicles X port is the makes (being outsourced), while Monolith is working on a brand new game for 2018. Retro Studios still has to unveil their project (Metroid pleaaase!!!). Skyrim Remastered is confirmed and should hopefully be a sign of 3rd party support. The Pokemon Company is working on a Switch game. Who knows what else!

Better be an updated Mario golf and Mario soccer. Put Mario maker on there and it's got me forever

My kids has been begging for a Wii U for a year or two. We have a Wii. Putting aside the parental impulse to not get him a new video game system because too much screen time, we already have plenty a Wii, PC, tablets, plenty of other ****, would it be at all worth it to pull the trigger for the holidays, since Switch is coming out soon?

I haven't checked actual availability, but if I'm doing the math correctly, I can get a refurb Wii U bundle with two games, a small SD card, and an extra Wiimote (don't need it, but hey) at Gamestop today for $190. I can also tack on 5 other good used games - I think - to bring the total to $335 (I factored in buy 2 used, get 1 used free, assuming the refurb bundle counts as 1 of the used items; also factored in purchasing one of the premium memberships for the discount). I can build a similar deal - again, assuming I am correct on the math - by mixing an matching with some Target game purchases.

The downside to all this, besides money, is that other than maybe getting Lego Dimensions or Skylanders, what I'll buy is about all that will be useful for Wii U, as the Switch is coming out.

On the other hand, while the Switch looks like it will come in at a good price point, I would expect this package I priced out will be my best bang for the buck for a while. The thing I hate most about consoles is the price of games.

I could just say screw the whole thing, as I don't really WANT to buy this, but I'm giving it consideration. I don't think Xbox or PS are options because they just don't have the child-friendly content.
