Yep I just finished Celeste on Friday and may come back later on to go for all the side B stuff. It is a really fun game. I just downloaded Hollow Knight. It seems like it has potential even though I have no idea what I am supposed to be doing. So far I'm wandering around and maybe trying to save worms lol. It's early though so plenty of time to figure it out.

Does anybody rent (console) games anymore? How?

There are a few $60 Switch titles that I know I’d be happy to play for a weekend (and then likely never again).

No Redbox in my area (that I know of); seems that’d be the best option if I could find one. GameFly (old Netflix model where they mail you games) seems like a somewhat reasonable option at $15/month...

Can’t believe I’m saying that I’m feeling (slightly) nostalgic for 1999 era Blockbuster.

You'll be able to stream Xbox One games like Forza and Halo and play them on Switch. Similar to how PlayStation Now works on PS4.

It won't be just Switch, expect to see Xbox Game Pass on a bunch of devices. Very interesting atm especially with Google about to reveal Project Yeti.

Been playing lots of Kart with my brothers.

What are other good games you can play online? Comp or coop.

Scrolling through now. Gonna check out Fall Flat. Would love any recommendations.

I feel like I'm receptive to that kind of game, but it looks a little TOO arcade-y, I still want it to feel like hockey

Okay, so I've been hooked for the past few days. I was thinking of this comment. Initially, yes I agreed with you, it's a surface level game that probably isn't "actual hockey."

However, now I'm not so sure. Yes, it's super brawl-y and violence oriented, but there's a subtle strategy lurking beneath the surface. More importantly, the way you score goals and the immediate build-up actually captures the feeling of a live hockey goal really well. The play really focuses on one timers to trick the goalie-- wild slapshots will get you nowhere. While it isn't EA Hockey, I still think die-hard fans will enjoy the gameplay.

On top of this, the franchise mode has some surprising depth. It's set in some weird, dark future where inmates are sentenced to blood sports. As a coach, you start off by selling your ****ing liver to pay for your first players and training facility. You can modify your players' diets, workouts, and juice them up with drugs. If you don't feel like nursing a particularly injured player back to health, you can just pull the plug on their recovery bed and throw their body in the dumpster out back.

I'm a few seasons in and the AI is still matching my difficulty well. Again, the premise and execution is rather simple but the game really clicks. Franchise mode offers some depth, but is still casual to approach. All around, it's simply satisfying to play.

Only complaints would be the lack of online play (although couch co-op is a blast) and some more music tracks. It's a solid purchase for the price and it really shines on the Switch. I love playing handheld and docked.

I just have to say, the AI for franchise mode is fantastic. While I usually manage to finish 1st each season, every single game still feels like a desperate struggle. So many of my wins are only decided in the 3rd period or OT. The game really captures the tension and frantic buildup of play in a satisfying way. Nothing feels “unfair” and goals are well earned.

New program unveiled for NSO members, vouchers: https://www.nintendo.com/switch/onli...pecial-offers/

Basically, spend $100 for a voucher that's good for two eligible $60 games (looks like Nintendo published titles). Current list of eligible games: https://ec.nintendo.com/US/en/pretickets/70020000000061

While not a great deal, if you combine this with discounted eShop cards (i.e. buy two $50 cards for $40 each) you can get $120 of value for $80. Again, not amazing but pretty good for Nintendo, especially for new titles. You get 500 gold coins ($5) for the purchase of the voucher, but no gold coins are earned for the purchases you make with said voucher.
