Cartridges confirmed. Can play anywhere just like the rumors said, can play the full games either on a plane or in the living room. The controllers slide in and out of the screen which houses the game and can be used free hand or attached to the tablet size screen. Regular controller available too. Basically confirmed new 3d mario game.

Console is black and looks smaller than a slim ps2, also clearly not going to run 4k like PS4 Pro or Scorpio.

Wooooow. This looks amazing. I feel like I'm going to drop it and crack the screen though.

Prediction: this is the last or second to last console Nintendo makes

It seems their emphasis is on mobility first and the home portion second, which to me is disappointing.

I don't see a ton of people wanting to lug this thing around to play games. I'd be worried it's gonna be broken or stolen or something but mostly there's just the hassle of it. I can see on an airplane how it'd be cool but that's about it.

One reason phones have such a leg up on mobile gaming is that everyone is carrying one around already regardless.

Obviously the games on this will be a million times better than phone games, but this seems more like a successor to the 3DS you can cast to your TV than a home console.

If when playing at home it is essentially as powerful as PS4/XBONE how can you look negatively at the portability aspect? It's essentially an added feature if your main objective is playing at home. They have almost every big pub minus Rockstar on board. If third party push is near equal to the other two, N's first party games make that an easy decision.

I don't take my tablet with me to game because it'd be awkward. This looks like a big tablet with lol wtf detachable handles (that can be used like wiimotes). So many parts to lose, so much lugging.

I'm curious how hot this thing will get, and if it'll be as powerful as the Wii U.

Take Two is on board. Fingers crossed that means 2K and Rockstar since they didn't just list 2K by themselves.

Well it was running Skyrim in the video. I'd hope it's the enhanced version.

The chances of that seem pretty slim.

I am optimistic. If they let it play 3DS games I'm 100% in.

I'm sure it will, but you have to buy the game again digitally or a special flash cartridge version or some other ripoff

I'm actually pretty impressed.

Buying the PSVR today but excited for this as well.

I think the only question right now is how powerful the thing will be, if it's at least semi-competitive with the ps4/xbox than I don't see how you can criticize the mobile aspect of it. It's at least the first nintendo gimmicky design that I'm actually excited about.

That looked pretty awesome but I do get the impression that it's one of those things that looks great on paper but doesn't translate to real-life practically. Like I enjoy the fever dream of being able to play my console games wherever I go but unfortunately when I'm out and about I'm doing things that are mutually exclusive to playing and enjoying console games. Whether it succeeds or fails, though, I give them credit for an exciting and innovative concept.

Most of us are a little over the age of the target audience for that feature, but it did remind of me of playing micro machines (which as far as I know was the first game to use the "half a controller for each player" concept) and that was insanely fun as a kid
