I used to game on PC growing up. I remember really enjoying this Microsoft monster truck game, as well as some sports games, mainly NBA Live 95. I used the Microsoft Sidewinder Joystick, which was pretty awesome. When PSX came out I guess I stopped. When I was in high school we didn't have a great PC, and remembered failing to run some games, so I stuck with Xbox and PS2.

Nowadays, good video cards cost as much consoles. Factor in a new PC every 3-4 years (prob an expense for most, but capable gaming machines are significantly more expensive), and its like 5x as costly to game on a computer.

Cliff Notes: PC Gaming is not for everyone, certainly not me.

Excellent video cards cost as much as consoles. Good video cards which will let you play at 1080 resolution cost about $100-$150.

Edit: Although, you will still need to have a decent CPU and RAM. Just slapping in even a $300 video card into your family PC may not get the best results. It's definetely more expensive than consoles, but not even close to 5x.

Maybe before when you were limited to a single graphics card. If you get an SLI/Crossfire motherboard with the intent to upgrade(which is about $5-$20 more than a standard motherboard), you can buy another graphics card and get very close to 2x the graphics power.

Well console games are also more expensive. Usually, at least by $10, sometimes more (ie - paying $33.75 for borderlands on steam vs $60 for 360). Plus, HD TVs are way more expensive than even a 24" monitor. Although granted, this may be purchased regardless of whether you game or not.

I do both PC and console gaming and enjoy both. I like the ability to join regular servers in games like TF2 where you start to see the same regular players. I also like it for competitive reasons as I'm much more skilled with mouse/kb controls than I am gamepad relative to others. And then there's dedicated servers (I have a ping of <10 where I usually play) and custom content which is pretty much non existent on the console.

I use console for my single player or coop multiplayer. I have a nice TV and surround system (that cost much more than my computer). Plus, many games are designed around the gamepad controls and even on a PC you would prefer to use them.

Man, if they announced every aspect of the multiplayer game on the PS3 (I don't own a PS3) was going to be considerably worse... I wouldn't start bitching and moaning in this thread about PS3 players. I also wouldn't say ******ed thinks like "IW IS MAKING THINGS BETTER FOR YOU GUYS! THEY SAID SO!" when I have absolutely no clue how the PS3 crap works.

There is a reason why hundreds of thousands of MW fans are pissed off. This isn't some silly thing where 5 people are pissed off that the game is going to cost $5 more. If you load up MW1, you'll see hundreds of servers with "BOYCOTT MW2" in the title... I've never seen that before. If you go to the IW forums, every single thread is about pissed off people. People are sending soap bars to IW hq. I've never seen this kind of outrage over any game before.

Well considering none of the PC players ever contributed to the COD4 thread aside from the occasional "LOL console nubs" I've got no problem just discussing the console versions

A lot of people don't have the type of money to keep updating their god damn PC every year or so when games jump forward wrt system requirements. In a vacuum sure it'll look better, and the controls are easier to use, but I much prefer using the console.
