Well, I don't really need to write how I feel about this game because Muresan is doing a great job. Initial thoughts are this game is a worse online multiplayer than COD4, but gotta keep playing because it's too early to know yet. I don't have cold-blooded or ninja pro unlocked yet, so maybe that's why I feel like I have a giant ****ing neon sign over my head. I've always been a twitch run&gun FPS guy, but this appears to be the game where that has no chance of working.

1.) My k/d plummeted from 1.8 to 1.25 in about two days, and when I checked my w/l ratio it was 0.71 (LOL)...does this mean I've just been running super cold on drawing good teams for Merc TDM?

2.) Are there any controls for the chopper gunner or AC130 besides aiming and shooting?

3.) I called a chopper gunner right when a host split off, and when the game came back I was spinning around out of control and the map was really far away. Has this happened to anyone else yet?

btw- mursean... if there were dedicated servers you could play on a server with killstreaks/bling disabled

you guys just can't run and gun like cod4. I mean the maps are big but that wasn't a problem in cod4 cause if you wanted to you could throw a smoke and run even on bog, overgrown, bloc etc. You can't do it because you've got less health, and there are more people.

I think 2 more on each side so that's more routes/lanes being covered but more important that means there are more guys dieing so more uavs, airstrikes, harriers etc. Also less health means guys are staying bunched together more. You'll have a hard time gunning a lot of people when they are all together even if you think flanking them would rack a ton of kills it doesn't really work like that.

I run and gun only to get to high ground. Doesn't seem like you guys are having fun with it. If running is your thing do it. I would but I find winning more important and taking bullets in the back is no fun so I'm a rooftop sniper with my scar.

first few days I was busy, but yeah I've been playing merc tdm appearing offline, to get the guns and map knowledge. Don't want to be dragging the party down when I'm clueless as where the spots/how to play snd, dom, demol etc.

On 4 I always used a silenced MP5 and really didn't even try to take long ranged shots. If I seen someone or got hit I would dart around a corner or duck behind some cover. The only difference is that on MW2 I NEVER ****ING SURVIVE EVER

i pretty much solely play merc tdm if no friends are on or tdm with friends. i just don't find the other game modes fun unless its all ppl i know playing with me. to be fair i haven't tried hardcore yet but i never got that into it in cod4 and i do think this game is too much of 'whoever sees the other guy first kills him' and hardcore just seems like its even more of that.

fwiw i've been destroying with m16 rds/hbs stopping power/ninja pro/2 flash/stinger and 5/7/8 precision/heli/emergency care drop. although hbs isn't that necessary on some levels and instead i use scavenger. if i go on a deathstreak ill switch between aug/scar depending on the map with most of the same perks as well.

unless you care about your killstreak that much, emergency care is so much better than any of the single ones above it. i can't remember a time when i didn't get at LEAST two of the killstreaks above 9 when i've gotten the drop. and once/if you get to a 5 streak you get to 8 probably 80%+ of the time.

well something may have clicked because I just played about 10-12 straight matches with 4+ KDR. Getting silencers on weapons definitely helped. I wasn't getting larger kill streaks enough so my rewards were UAV, Predator, and Harrier strike but now I think I can up it to chopper gunner or AC-130

no way, if i can go 24-17 using only a riot shield and throwing knife you should be able to do just fine running and gunning.

1) playing with a group of known good players is seriously +EV

2) you can switch between all 3 of the AC-130's guns, just like in the spec ops mission

Make up your mind bro. So the game sucks when you get owned, but it's awesome when you're doing well? Come on now....

I didnt say it was awesome, I said I did a lot better (even though I wasn't "getting owned" before). Shocker, doing well at stuff makes it more enjoyable. The **** i've said before still stands, but at least now I'm on equal noobtacular footing

Seems like the penetration power is much, much higher for all weapons, even without using FMJ. Does anyone else think so?

BTW, just realized that when going for big scores, absolutely take out UAV and do something like Pred/Harrier/Chopper. The chopper gunner just seems ridiculously unfair.

I watched a couple videos of good players and they all said the same thing basically. That is, at first they were "playing the game wrong." So what's the right way to play the game? "Staying back," "being less aggressive," "not rushing," and other various camperspeak for camping.
