It's a 4 player co-op Diabloesque game with a pretty unique dynamic spell casting system.

In a nutshell, there are 8 elements you can combine to make different spells, like rays, sprays, buffs, debuffs, projectiles, AOE, barriers, mines, and probably lots else I haven't discovered yet. There are swords and staves to pick up with some abilities/+stats but from what I've seen they are not that important to gameplay. There is also no leveling system.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g_XP9OBWGKo - TotalHalibut's review and first impressions. Worth watching to get a better idea what it's like.

Just finished the demo and insta-bought it along with a friend. Anyone who wants to play with us can join our steam group; http://steamcommunity.com/groups/FUSklansky

It's PC only right now but I think its on the schedule for PS3/XBOX. for 10 bucks on steam its worth it. Been running around in co-op adventure, pretty fun but it seems like they need to nerf the murderbeam (you'll know what this is right away).

It's only been released a few days but seems pretty functional, a few MP issues with just getting black screened and stuff but nothing that wouldn't be expected for a 3 day old release.

I can't remember exactly, but last night on either X-Play or Attack of the Show there was a news scroll on the bottom that said Magicka sold 30,000 copies in the first 24hrs making it something like the most downloaded game on Steam or whatever it was.

yeah we were briefly talking about it in the steam thread. it does look very cool although I was missing a bunch of MS updates when I tried to install and play the demo. trying to fix that now so I can give it a try but just on first glance it looked like a pretty cool game.

Installing the windows .net framework everytime you try and launch the game is a bug they are aware of at the moment, annoying but only takes 2mins.

I've been playing co-op with my friend and were loving it.

You definitely need to buy this game and not pirate it because of the constant patches they've been releasing for the game.

Yes you can argue that the game should work completely before launch, but I do love how the developers have been patching it every 24 hours so far.

For 10 bucks, definitely worth it for the hours of fun i'll have playing

bought it the other day, mp was unplayable at the time but if its fixed sooni wouldn't hold it against them.

One thing not mentioned in this thread yet is that friendly fire is always on, which if a large part of what makes the game challenging in mp. Its a lot of fun playing with a few friends just trying to get though levels without killing eachother every 2 minutes.

Servers need patching (Monday).

Until then MP is rather unplayable.

Game is pretty awesome though.

still kind of buggy. i can get into games with all my friends now but we've crashed twice now at the end of chapter 3. game will be awesome though when it works, i'll probably rebuy it when/if it comes out on 360.

Bought it and played with some friends.

Unfortunately the lag makes MP a huge pain in the ass. But the devs have already said they're working around the clock on it.

My brother and I finished all 20 waves of the Arena. But I have yet to get past level 9 in the Glade.

What was your strategy for dealing with wizards in the arena? They give me a lot of trouble, though I am playing solo.

QFSAAA and those wizards die quick. Pretty much anything dies fast to that combo though.

Use the pillars to your advantage.

I managed to get to level 14 of The Glade last night solo. My success basically boiled down to luckboxing a staff drop that gave me a passive regeneration aura, and my discovery of AAAAF lightning/fire for blowing up massive amounts of small swarming units. Especially those guys who throw bombs. Adding the fire to it causes them to explode, killing stuff nearby.

I need to get better at defensive magic. Level 14 was another mass archer level, but with crossbows this time. Knockdown spam sucks.

Also, wizards can be charmed. Use skills like that to your advantage whenever possible.
