legacy/vintage decks are incredibly fast and very tuned, a 5mana 3/3 with no disruption just isn't good enough anymore

if you look at the Dreadstill deck that won the SCG 5k you'd see how much things have changed, the deck abuses 2 interactions that WoC didn't intend

stifle allows the deck to ignore phyrexian dreadnought's drawback giving a deck a 12/12trampler for 1U

sensei's diving top lets counterbalance counter 1cc spells(by top-swap or having something like brainstorm in the top3), and 2cc, 3cc ones with decent regularity

vintage is even more abusive lol
Thanks for the info. But I was more asking about, how the mana curve and mana ratio is. Like I said I built the deck from the cards I had on me, and that was only 3 binders from 6 years ago, so my options were very limited.

On a similar note, I am trying to build a white weenie deck for fun. Again, Type 1 or whatever its called is fine. Just looking for cheap cards to make a quick fast and fun white deck. Ideas so far...

4x White Knight
4x Savannah Lions
4x Crusade
4x Call To Arms
4x Order of Leitbur
4x Order of The White Shield
4x Swords To Plowshares

Thinking about maybe Armageddons or things like that. Serra Angel? Ideas?

I mean the deck is totally fine for playing against your friend, but it strikes me as just a 'collection of decent cards' rather than a focused deck.

If you want advice on what to cut I'd pull the Will o' the Wisp, the Sengir Vampire, and maybe the Mox Diamonds which don't really fit here as they don't accelerate you into anything stunning.

Play more creatures, don't play 8 pump spells with 16 creatures anyway. Isamaru, Hound of Konda is okay (only a couple). Jotun Grunt is good, maybe. Call to Arms is incredibly vulnerable, Glorious Anthem is maybe better.

If you have them, add Land Tax and Scroll Rack which is a sick combo in White Weenie. Armageddon is clearly playable.

one thing you could do is sell the underground sea's on ebay a set of 4 goes for around 160(for revised, go for a fair bit more if ABU or foreign blackborder), if you had any other of the duals they all still sell for a lot, the blue ones being the most expensive

reflecting pool has really dropped off on ebay but is still ~50 a set(2-3months ago it was in the 70+ range)

yeah, the new core set has an uncommon 2/1 for W soldier that will be $1 tops, also has a new improved crusade that only pumps your white creatures, but will cost 8-12ish that would be good additions

I have the complete set of 40 dual lands, so I will probably not break them up.

Yea, that Black/Blue deck was literally something I just put together with what I have. I'm looking at star city games now for some cards to improve it.

Land Tax, Scroll Rack, Armageddon definetly going in WW. 4 of each? What other creatures are good for that deck? What big ones if any should I use? Any non-Basic lands?

Should I do Anthem and Crusade? Or just one?

Thanks for the help guys.

Edit - Jotun and Isamaru seem really good. Jotuns upkeep is 2,4,6,8etc. cards milled from the bottom of my deck right?

I would definitely play 4 land tax, 4 scroll rack. The point is, you are quite happy with only a couple of lands in play, if your opponent has more you can search three basics out in your upkeep, then use the scroll rack to put them back on top of your library and get 3 random cards instead, and do that every turn. Essentially you get to draw 3 extra cards a turn as long as you have less lands.

Armageddon doesn't really go well with Tax/Rack so I might be tempted to pick one or the other.

As for additional creatures there is a new 2/1 for W, that bottomset mentioned, will be released in next basic set. If your friends like playing red or black the shadow guys for two mana are okay, Soltari Priest and Soltari Monk. Mother of Runes is a reasonable one drop. Just picking cards off the top of my head really Wouldn't bother with any expensive creatures, adding Serra Angel or even Baneslayer Angel just makes your tax/rack worse.

I might just go with 4 crusades, 8 pumpers seems a lot to me. Ajani Goldmane is a good pump spell as well but not sure how well it would fit in your deck.

As far as non-basics you could play 4 strip mines unless you and your friends think that is cheesy. If you decide to add any Isamaru's to your deck then you may as well play one Eiganjo Castle over a Plains, but realistically there is almost no difference. One Kjeldoran Outpost isn't unreasonable either.

Jotun Grunt is cards in a graveyard, not milled from the deck, first 2 then 4 then 6... but it doesn't have to be your graveyard it can be your opponents. Probably not playable in a straight white weenie deck, if you add ONS sack lands and burn spells it would get a lot better though - and it can be utterly sick depending on your opponents deck.

The deck would probably be better with 4 plateau, 4 sacred foundry, lightning bolts and lightning helixes but then you end up with basically a tournament deck probably not what you are looking for if you want to play against your friends.

http://www.wizards.com/Magic/Magazin...daily/deck/204

is one version of a similar deck from years and years ago, would say that foundry instead of 3 plains might be an improvement (any more and you **** land tax up). Jotun Grunt would be sick in this particular deck as the Firestorm makes it easy to keep your graveyard full.

Sell that set of duals, then you can buy singles or boxes of newer stuff. Older formats where duals are legal take a lot of card investment.

Whats the name of this new Savannah Lions? Is it in any other set? This new Crusade for just you, is that brand new as well?

I'm looking to go just white for now, Strip Mines, Wastelands, Kjelodran Outposts etc. All that is fine.

What do you want to play? Drafts? Sealed? Constructed?

If want to play drafts and/or sealed then buy the product and tickets to enter several events.

If you want to do constructed then it depends what deck(s) you want to build. Ideally I think you want to acquire as much of your deck(s) as possible through drafts and/or sealed. So again it depends what you want to do. You can get a big base of 10E and Alara block cards this way quickly plus whatever else is running but other cards you're going to need to hit up the bots for trades.

Both are new (being released in 2 weeks or so), not in any other sets. The new Savannah Lion is called Elite Vanguard, the new Crusade is just for your creatures and called Honor of the Pure.

OK, so in addition to the white deck, I am also building a Sligh Deck, but I need some good 2 casting cost creatures and general advice on this deck.

Cards I am considering...

Tattermunge Witch
Mogg Fanatic
Raging Goblin
Viashano Sandstalker
Ball Lightning
Rathi Dragon
Jackal Pup
Mogg Conscripts

Kindle
Lightning Bolt
Incinerate
Shock
Hammer of Borgardan
Fireblast

Cursed Scroll
Scalding Tongs

Mountains
Strip Mines

Thoughts?

When we played RDW in legacy, we tested Flame Rift. It seemed awful, and while it can lose against some decks, 4 damage for 2 mana is hard to pass up.

Tattermunge Maniac is better than Jackal Pup is most scenarios I think.

Also, have you considered Hellspark Elemental, Tarfire over Shock, and running Flamekin Bladewhirl?

That may be awful though (totally untested).

Nevermind, I don't know why I thought Tarfire was Changeling (it's only a goblin).

Tattermunge Maniac and Hellspark Elemental seem like certain adds, so I appreciate the advice.

Flame Rift is interesting. I might test that one out, but Incincerate, Bolt and Fireblast/Hammer may be enough DD, but maybe not?

Hammer is awful.

I'm looking through some old decklists, and I came across this. This is what I played in legacy last summer:

I'mTooPoorToBuyTarmogoyf.dec

19 Mountain

3 Keldon Marauder

4 Lightning Bolt
4 Chain Lightning
4 Lava Spike
4 Rift Bolt
4 Magma Jet
4 Incinerate
4 Flame Javelin
4 Flame Rift
3 Fireblast
3 Price of Progress

This was a really rough build though.

Yea, Hammer was great in a control Red/Blue deck I had back in the day, but for the most part, by the time you can buy Hammer back the game is probably over.

Wow, Keldon Marauder is pretty sick too.

I used to love Chain Lightning but its harder to find and somewhat expensive.

How did the deck work? I'm probably going to make it more like a classic Sligh deck with a decent amount of creatures, but I always wondered how a pure cheese deck would do.

instead of looking under the "casual" tab look under "tournaments". There are 8 player and HU ques, as well as bigger daily and weekly events.
