There's a lot of little things that annoy me like not having any idea what my opponent did after a scry. The engine has a long ways to go before you could play Lantern Control or Legacy Storm on it.

And for what it's worth, Ixalan Block Constructed is just about the worst magic format.

I'm on board in general for the Hearthstonification of MTG though.

As someone who’d be starting fresh I’m concerned with the potential cost, especially after only having experienced Eternals very generous F2P model - I’ve spent money to support the game and buy premium items but have never felt the need to do so to build my collection. I don’t follow MtG but my impression is it’s crazy expensive in all its forms.

jiggy - there's not much information about that right now. You can't spend money in game yet. I would be pretty surprised if Arena wasn't the cheapest way to play MTG by a lot though.

Honestly, magic online is quite cheap. Standard deck costs $50-200, BUT you can re-sell the deck right away for ~90% of the cost. Sure, it is not free like alternatives, but if you want to play best decks, mtgo lets you do this right away without taking huge losses. Unlike alternatives, the cards also retain their values over time and them + winnings can be for real world money.

Ok thanks that’s good to know; cost isn’t necessarily an issue, I’m just not looking to sink a ton of money into anything. I guess a lot will hinge on how the draft mode(s) work because i seem to like limited a lot more than constructed in card games.

while this is all true, if you are not a winning player the cost of drafts/leagues can add up

I think it ignores resell value of cracked cards.

Being able to break even at 55 - 65 % win rate is pretty cheap imo.

Also I think there are special dailies with improved prizes where you only need like 40 % WR to break even.

thats what the "cards EV" section is

the resell ev of an opened mtgo pack is extremely low

I'm blind and missed that...

I played a sealed league in the cookie queue and was amazed at how many miss plays people make.

But constructed seems a lot cheaper than limited + you can actually be 50-50 and make a slight profit.

50% winrate means a loss of 4 to 6 tickets per draft (!) depending on format.

Drafts are very expensive. Best players pretty much break-even. Best EV is probably in limited PTQs.

Please don't make **** up I didn't say, and then argue with the arguments I never made. That **** is stupid.

Being 50-50 in HS arena will get you gold broke very fast (but there is daily gold to keep you alive)

I put 55-65 %, no format mentioned.

50 % is enough in constructed.

63 % for BE in competitive sealed league

65 % Draft Competitive League

73% for Draft Friendly League is the biggest dump

Also as mentioned earlier there used to be dailies, weeklies and monthlies with improved prize structure.

I think competitive sealed league or whatever dailies pays something decent, is the way to go for limited.

The ridiculous obsession with ev in the world of magical spells never ceases to amaze me.

Sure did. It is just soooo tiring arguing with people who don't read what you write...

Confirmed best way to make +ev in MTGO is to play poker instead.

Lets play a game of "What to cut"?

3 Pterodons, slash of talons IMO. Late drops that don't synergize with your vampire cards are the worst in the deck. Slash has been bad for me in this format, but you could cut something else as well.

Pterodon is a good card but absolutely does not belong in that deck. Slash is also a fine card but much worse in an aggressive deck than a defensive one. The only other cards I'd consider cutting are Raptor Companion and Deadeye Tormentor, the rest of the deck looks amazing.

No one has reached the same cuts as me, me and my mate disagrees a little on the final deck, I'll post what I did tonight + results

I ended up cutting:
Raptor (Must cut imo)
1 Sun-crested
1 Recover (This is probably a wrong cut)

This is proably better
Raptor (Must cut imo)
2 Sun-crested

In general I really like Sun-crested in this format, even as only Dino
