Shrug.
meh he could have had something like ORing, Resounding Thunder Intimidation bolt that just didn't have a target

I played the worst game of my magic career today, it was really really ugly, I was so tilted at how dumb I was

Thoughts on this basic esper flyer deck? Obvious points of debate include the angel, the drake, the capsule, maybe the 1/3 exalted guy?, and maindecking controlled instincts and the zombie.

Do you know what happens when you cast Filigree Angel? Get that thing in your deck immediately.

Also LOL Quietus Spike. FFS no.

And fasfdgsdffdssdg Courier's Capsule.

Cut Spike + Instincts for Capsule + Angel.

yes, this is correct
Filigree Angel is not a first pick I've found since it's only good in an Esper Defensive Deck imo. It's not a bomb.

But this deck is an Esper Defensive Deck. It's a bomb.

One more thing, you have a Borderpost so you can afford to cut a land for the Ethersworn Knight.

This is not a defensive deck at all.

Anyways, I lost in the finals to a grixis that managed to curve marginally better than me. I subbed in the angel as per your suggestion and only actually drew it once (it was a dead card). With the amount of people shoving naya/jund I actually like the controlled instincts main over a lot of other cards... The angel is just way too clumsy for this deck that I think has real strength turns 4-7 and I had won most games by that turn, tbh. I thought the capsule was slightly too slow but now figure it was probably above the spike, or that extra half land.

It appears that you gain 3 life for each artifact you control.

Why would you not play Ethercaste Knight in this deck?!

I think I just don't properly evaluate that card's strength. I've seen it played well especially with the 3/4 unblockable but when I think of my two-spot I usually think blade or protection. That's prolly dumb.

What i just came up with in 8-4. Kind of bleh. The 5cc 5 damage spell is much better then i gave it credit for. I've just been SB in the black drop of honey sorcery when going 2nd. Wasn't sure if I need to be MD it b/c im a little light on removal.

Just lost in semis which makes for me 0 for last 5. Ouch.

Hi guys!

I am in the midst of downloading MTGO right now. I played a lot when I was in high school (1800+ composite rating), but since I've been in college, it hasn't been as much so.

Would it be possible for me to put in about $50 or $60 into this, and just play a bunch of drafts to build up cards, and sell them?

Also, I'm trying to launch the program, but there is a problem with the file Renamer.exe. Has anyone had this problem?

Thanks!

Yeah i seem to remember getting that error before and if memory serves I had to re download.

If you've been out of the game for that long you'll probably end up re loading after your first $50. If you're only playing limited its tough to keep your packs up to fuel your entry cost. (there's more discussion on this in previous recent post).

In general I just don't like this deck.

It's the kind that might eek out a win in the first round or two, but only if you draw well/opp is screwed, etc. Just too slow. Generally I don't play with breath, and you have to be aware that both the cultist and vithian are worse than than they were back in AAA and AAC, imo. Ditto for the minotaurs. Just medium sized clunk which is generally my least favourite style deck, usually.

Also, for the dude just starting up, you're gonna get nowhere with 50 bucks. Hehe. This game is a sinkhole, unless you're willing to pay a hundo or two up front for a constructed deck to grind with. Personally I just enjoy the drafts and I'm willing to spend 5-10 bucks per draft to have fun (1750 draft rating).

As much as I would love to play constructed, I probably won't on MTGO for a couple of reasons:

1. I have a fair amount of cards for Type II, and I usually play live in FNMs, PTQs,...etc, and I don't really want to spend double on online cards.
2. I hate the current type II format, because I feel that the lands are way too ridiculous, and it is becoming a "best/most expensive cards win" format, which hasn't happened in a while. I also hate cascade, and am really angry at anyone at WoTC who thought it would be a good idea.
3. I like to draft, and play a lot of limited.

So, my idea was that I could buy some packs, and put a few tix into my account. I would draft using the 4-winners prize structure to build up packs (I hear that this is a lot easier than the 8-4 ones), and sell anything I open for more tix to fuel the drafts.

Maybe $50-60 is too little, but is it possible to sustain my account solely by one deposit?

EDIT: So I updated windows, and got the screen that says "Launch" and "Repair". I click repair, and it repaired, and updated some files. But, when I tell it to launch, it closes, and I gets the Windows Error Report Message. Is this normal?

Unless you are very, very good, I would be shocked if you could sustain infinite off of just a few draft sets (which are ~$12 each). I don't think it's gonna happen. As for the software, just keep reinstalling and redownloading until it works. Error messages and random software crashes are pretty standard.

Example: Last week I loaded $30, then re loaded $60, won two sealed decks (x80 boosters) and several drafts but have ran bad and am now somewhere in the teens for packs. I would venture a guess that i've played in 10 sealed decks and 25-30 drafts off of that initial $80 investment with product left over.

I do have close to x300 rares on my account but only a very small fraction of them are worth any tix.

re: Error I'm not sure, I know there are forums from wizards that deal with tech support for modo.
