looks like if i start playing constructed online I'd start with the RDW then crush then move to the more fun 5C blood deck

seems RDW is like 140tix or so half of it being getting figures lol

yeah-ya, took down my 2nd release sealed today. I didn't save my list and I can't figure out where its auto saved to otherwise i'd throw it up.

My draft was horrible but I won every game (yeah every one) with double Gloryscale Viashino. That guy is insane.

edit: technically split in the finals but he conceded to me so that's almost as good as winning outright.

Hey all,
I'm staying at the rio till end of June and palms till 10th of July and am wondering if there are any magic players here that know of local drafts / events. I looked on the wizards website and nothing looked that promising as I have 0 cards with me but I would have fun cubing/drafting/sealding etc.
peace,
roo

Hehe, it's quite possible he has more than me, don't forget I haven't played a game of Sanctioned Magic in about 5 years+ I guess I have more Nationals top 8s than anyone in the thread unless there's someone from a random country with like 10 mtgers

Anyway I want to know the story behind this rating!

there's almost nothing here. Like nothing. The prereleases pull about 40 people and if you play in a ptq, you start in the top 8.

Wasn't there some european pros who once traveled to Luxembourg or something just to qualify for worlds? Seem to recall something like that some years ago?

Luxembourg isn't far at all for a load of Dutch, Belgian, French players - but you can't play Nats unless you are a resident of the country afaik?
I've travelled to Ireland and Scotland on occasion for PTQs (from London).

not really since I'm not even sure if we get a ptq every season. We have at most 2 and one is always about 7 hours away in reno.

hehe my name irl is not christopher eucken but i know him and his story. he seems to enjoy losing and even gets upset when someone threatenes to concede to him. he is very active and plays a lot of ptqs and gps and shop tourneys.

Back in the day (must be about 12 years or so ago now) there was a chap who used to 0-x my local event every month - he only managed to get down to 1200 or so and as I recall he never won a game. It must take a hell of a lot of losing to get down as low as this Eucken character.

Would have to be higher K - value events rather then just FNM I'm guessing.

Two days left in the release events O.o.

Why would anyone like to lose?

I mean, I hated when I had to take the loss for my friends that were trying to get rating for byes/pts/nats.

He's probably at the point where the K value doesnt matter and he loses 1 pt to each opponent no matter what, unless he randomly gets paired against a 1200 in a GP then he might lose 2

lol u obv dont lose 1 point if u opponent has like 700 more points than u, i guess u lose like 0.2 points.
iirc u get the max points (=kvalue) if u have 300 less points.

a 1500 beating an 1800 at a 40k event gains 34 points.
a 1500 beating a 2136 at a 40k event gains exactly 39 points

I thought they round gains/losses of < 1 or > kvalue-1 to those numbers but could be wrong, obv it happens very rarely anyway.

Continuing to explore standard, I think I'm going to put together a Faeries list next. Here's what I came up with after staring at the 5 versions that T8ed Seattle. Anything obviously suboptimal here, especially in the board? Do I need Sowers? That was the last thing I cut.

6 Island
3 Swamp
3 Underground River
4 Secluded Glen
4 Mutavault
4 Sunken Ruins
1 Faerie Conclave

4 Mistbind Clique
4 Scion of Oona
4 Spellstutter Sprite

3 Jace Beleren
4 Bitterblossom

4 Broken Ambitions
4 Cryptic Command
2 Agony Warp
2 Peppersmoke
2 Terror
2 Thoughtseize

Sideboard
1 Agony Warp
3 Deathmark
3 Flashfreeze
2 Peppersmoke
2 Plumeveil
2 Puppeteer Clique
2 Thoughtseize

they dont round up/down, they just dont show the numbers after the . in the rankings.
if he lost one point per match, christopher would be below zero in both limited and constructed i think

I'm playing 2 sowers main, 2 board. Guess it depends what you expect to face

I've been dicking around with trying an anti-jund block list that looks like this. (note, only have 2 elspeths on modo, haven't bothered to get the rest)

and yes, the curve sucks. court homunculus doesn't seem to get it done

4 arkasan squire
4 path to exile
4 darklit gargoyle
4 aven squire
4 sigiled paladin
4 tidehollow sculler
4 zealous persecution
3 ethersworn canonist
2 celestial purge
2 elspeth
3 battlegrace angel

then iirc 4 arcane sanctum, 5 swamp 13 plains

side board has 2 identity crisis, 2 necromancer's covenant, 3 lapse, 4 o-ring, the remaining angel, canonist
