Cueball graciously lent me Naya midrange for WMCQ and blitz for Sundays PTQ. After seeing the WMCQ winning list with 4 domris in board and no spears, I went spearless for rampagers and tried a singleton Domri Main with no other nonland, noncreature cards that I enjoyed. Went 6-3 despite numerous misplays.

Cueballhead and I discussed that we thought it was weird Boris Charm isn't run main, and how we think its superior to Spear. It doesnt remove blockers, but that seems worth it for the added flexibility/power. If I wasn't trying the miser Domri, I wouldve tried the charms main. Building your own Wrecking Ogre via Rampager/Double Strike mode is a thing.

I don't see how a list can have <4 Maulers.

I played a deck that was setup to beat blitz. RWU with 4 maindeck Gloom Surgeons, Sorin, Lingering. I did not win that round.

In the last round, I lost game 2 vs. Bant where I turn 1 E1, turn 2, BTE->BTE->BTE->E1, and I never lost a creature. Won game 3 on turn 10+ though somehow, and have only played 9 bo3s with the deck so feel free to ignore all this.

How good was the singleton Domri in the deck?

Problem with Boros charm is the double colored with cavern of souls, but I guess if you play more rampager you can remove 1 cavern, and play 2 Boros charm MD because the double strike mod can be useful with a +4/+4 trample pump.

You have to have a good eye though, small Jace for example is not a staple but Rakdos Return is.

Only card that really calls to me from GTC is Obzedat (I grabbed mine for 11), but it's already gone up a lot. Reckoner is probably a good bet but harder to predict because it's not mythic.
Don't forget Return to Ravnica and Gatecrash are going to be drafted again when Dragon's Maze comes out.

Not running all four Maulers cannot be right. That guy's one of the best cards in the deck.

I played Naya midrange this weekend and Domri was MVP ainec. I'd imagine it's just as good in blitz.

Ah, good point I've only been playing again since M13. Rampager is great yes but tough on the mana, would run 4 if it weren't.

It depends on what your goal is. If your goal is to win, you want a tier 1 deck. There are two tier 1 decks right now IMO: Junk Rites and Naya Blitz. Naya Blitz is certainly the cheaper of the two. Rites is fairly consistent while Naya Blitz has a lot of variance (ie. it mulligans a lot but has some virtually unstoppable hands).

I am not sure how good some of the less popular decks are, such as Prime Speaker Zegana decks and some of the decks with Fog in them. What I can tell you is that RWU "Midrange," Esper Control, and Jund Midrange are all terrible options. They all have bad reanimator matchups (Esper being the least bad but still significantly unfavorable) while still being vulnerable to the Blitz "nut draws," which is just not where you want to be right now. The other aggro decks IME are just worse versions of Naya Blitz. They give up a lot of the "free wins" (the reason to play Blitz in the first place) for some consistency. But if you want consistency then just play Junk Rites.

Round 1 pairings in the first 2+2 mtg tournament:
Trikkur vs Cueballmania
Deorum vs BoltYou
Bakes vs JOMO
Cadaz vs ***

Please play your best of 3 by Thursday 11:59 PM.
I still need tickets from 4 of you; you know who you are.

cwar- your Naya Blitz is missing 2 cards.. Thalia?

Been thinking the deck might need 21st land, also Experiment One has been mediocore, 4 Boros Elite might be too much since a lot of times I'd play Champ before and usually only have 1 white source which leds me to think the deck needs some red (or other green) 1drops to be more balanced

Giant Growth has been pretty good so far, allows us to play a dude and have protection/combat tricks with leftover green mana

Thoughts on Pilgrim in the deck?

Yes it cut off, should be 3 Thalia, Giant Growth isn't as important when people aren't running as many Centaur Healers / Smiters as they were. Pilgrim main deck takes away from the aggression which isn't good. Experiment One is weaker but necessary IMO, he's almost always 2/2 for one and you need that.

Some writers have recommended Wolfbitten Captive over Experiment One.

I like Rampager a lot. Maybe a split between that and GG?

Experiment One gets much better when you are running Vexing Devil.

Ok deck is pretty good (opted to go 4 Ramper for now.. I know I am nuts) but ****ing Boros Reckoner specifically in UWR Flash, how the **** do we beat him? Pacifism seems aweful since they can just flash him and 0/3 flash dude that pings is dumb in the matchup

SCG is manipulating the singles market. they bought all cloudstone curios on magiccardmarket.eu 2 days before Beck got spoilered on the mothership.

Price went up from 1.39 to 2.99.

Seems really shady and can be considered insidertrading imo.

Assuming this is true, it's pretty absurd. If I was WotC, I would insta say that SCG gets no preview cards for the next 2 sets at a minimum.

I don't think SCG is responsible for this one. QuietSpeculation.com sent out an Insider Alert on Cloudstone Curio a few days ago.

Alert was April 8th, but forum chatter was on April 7th. That does appear to be a full day earlier.
