I think the fact that he has Negate in the graveyard means Snapcaster is easily the correct choice. Both cards are better than a random card, so we should take something. The only reason to consider taking the Bolt is so that he has to draw an answer to Tarmogoyf within the next two turns or lose his Ajani. But I do not think you care a whole lot about Ajani, particularly given that after you take Snapcaster he won't have any more counterspells. And in case some may have missed it, you are one land away from killing him.

The Tarmogoyf isn't doing anything right now.

If we take Bolt then he has to either draw an answer to Goyf next turn and -2 Ajani at Clique (because if he bricks and -2 Ajani at Clique then Goyf untaps), or take a hit from Clique and draw an answer the next turn. He could, of course, Snap-Path. But then we just win.

Funny. Americans normally call UWR deck team america. I guess 3 colors weren't enough so they ended up taking the rest of them too.

I didn't invent that name and I also think its a bad name.

I could swear the deck was named by Europeans. Apparently it was some tortured reference to land destruction (= Americans like to bomb everything)

EDIT: Oh, maybe I missed the point; yeah, part of the problem with the first deck to have that name having that name is that any american who doesn't get the reference is going to think 3 colors + "America" = RWU

Last edited by Xhad; 04-04-2013 at 10:32 PM. Reason: No, I don't like the name either

Am I allowed to buy tix through this forum? If yes, anyone wants to sell tix for poker dollars, I think I have an account on most major sites.

Wondering if Jund Midrange would be a solid choice if it ran a bunch of Thundermaws, Olivias, and Deathrite Shamans between the main and the board. Perhaps something like cutting a Thragtusk and Huntmaster from the main for two Thundermaws and running the fourth Olivia and four Deathrite Shamans in the sideboard. These are all difficult cards for Junk Reanimator, and Jund tends to have a great game against the aggro decks. Any thoughts? Anybody with Jund online care to test it out some? I have Junk, and also have Blitz in case you want to see how much that matchup suffers after making such changes.

I think you're absolutely right about running the fourth Olivia (3 main, 1 board). Shaman is definitely not main deck worthy and cutting Thrag/Hunt from the is basically insanity. I definitely think it's overstated how bad Jund is against Junk as well.

I'm around for testing although I have a stranger deck at the moment and Blitz we may be able to build it with extra cards or something (I have 4 Liliana at the moment).

Huntmaster is just bad right now so i'd cut that tbh. It doesn't kill anything when it flips unless against aggro where it's a bit too slow and small to be that great anyway and other good decks just eot instant and make you look silly if you try to flip it.

As a Junk player only card I don't want to see is Olivia. I think the matchup is bad enough for Jund I wouldn't want to play the deck atm. Jund doesn't even have any really good match-ups.

Yeah, Olivia is public enemy #1. You don't hate Deathrite Shaman though? Man that guy's annoying. I agree Jund in general isn't good right now and is bad against Junk. I was mostly thinking of stuff I don't particularly like to see across from me while I'm playing Junk and those three cards came to mind, then I realized they all fit into Jund. Maybe it's not enough though.

Here's my latest brew, has an EXCELLENT Reanimator matchup, 4x Liliana 4x Sorin with tons of blocking has been the core of the deck.

Did some more testing and made some sweet tech changes:
-4 resto
-4 cartel
+3 gloom surgeon
+4 sublime archangel (so good in this deck)

You cut the cards I liked for ones ... not so much. These changes are going to kill your reanimator match imo. Aristocrat and Angel are both key to not get blown out by Angel of Serenity.

Sublime Archangel actually helps in the Reanimator matchup significantly more than Resto, it has the tools to push through as a deck in general and that's actually a very effective plan against Reanimator. Turn 3 Lingering Souls / Nighthawk into Sublime Archangel is one of the best starts you can have against a lot of builds of that deck.

I'm 5-1 against Reanimator so far so it's seeming like a good matchup anyways and Gloom+Sublime are better in other matchups.

Think I'll play the PTQ in 2 hours. Haven't really played Standard (or Magic in general) in a long time, except for a daily a few days ago which I 4-0ed with Esper.

Anything I should be particularly aware of when it comes to Standard right now? I probably know the basics but not the finer points about recent stuff.
