Yeah, I like guides, but not in this deck for exactly the reason you said. It's really good in the slow Naya deck; not so much in the evasion Esper/Bant deck.

I ended up losing in the finals of a 4322 vs. a sick Naya devour deck with Mycoloth and two stingers.

also cringed that battlemage/tower/cerodon get to sit on the sidelines, but with the lack of fixing it seems right

Yeah, I drafted Tower Gargoyle with the intention of going esper, but I got way too many Jhessian Infiltrators and a late Bant Charm. I took Bull Ceredon (one of my favorite creatures) really late in hopes of splashing for it; every Naya Panaroma was paired with a Screecher or Fatestitcher.

And Battlemage obviously sucks without black.

How the **** did you get it 14th?

You should have taken it 6th.

I probably took a removal spell over it or something.

wow **** me, i guess my message doesn't go thru:

scourglass is **** except in pure esper (and even then I'd rather have tower/sanctum gargoyle).

bull ceradon is a house, easy first pick.

cancel is stains. i'd rather have removal/creature/playable over it. only side it in against a deck card that houses you (planeswalker/mythic rare/battlegrace, etc)

fatesticher is the nut high. I'd take it as high as possible (and as early as possible). There is only a few cards over it

no it isn't. and you're dumb for thinking it is.

Oblivion ring is removal
Agony warp is removal
Resounding thunder is removal.
Resounding silence is removal.

Cancel is not removal.

You forgot the Beat: Wotc's prize support for going x-0 at pre-releases.

Kyle, can't believe you're talking up Cancel in limited. It seems to me you'd almost never run it except maybe as a sideboard option against a card you have no outs against.

I have a question.

What T1 power cards have been reproduced since FE?

What Pre-FE cards have been added to the restricted/banned list?

Are there any T1 tournaments anymore?

If you can't tell, I hated MTG post Fallen Empires

The DCI
Still some T1 at bigger events as well as Power 9 Tournaments that are usually T1 events that allow a few proxies.

I mean, Ben Rubin must be an idiot. He ran three in a moneydraft not long ago. Cancel was also first picked by plenty of people on the PT in Rochester draft.

You guys talk like Cancelling an Oblivion Ring is bad or something. Sure, you have outs against it, but why is this a bad play?

I am happy to run Cancel in most decks and so are all of the top tier players that I know.

Ok, Run cancel against naya/grixis/bant and see how far you go before they just stomp all over your throat.

You talk about cancelling an O ring like it's something possible.

You do realize that O ring is useless if you don't cast threats right?

So while you're holding back creatures to have cspell back-up, I'm bashing in on turn 2-3-4-5 while you're doing nothing

congrats.

Kyle:

Cancel is not removal because you cant just tap 1UU whenever and removal some bitches.

It is very situational and having to leave mana up is gay.

Are you an idiot? No one is advocating leaving the mana up to not cast ****. You talk to me like I am some random Magic player who thinks Cancel is hot because you can counter their **** on turn three.

In the Bant deck with a few exalted guys and a threat that keeps attacking your opponent, holding Cancel is sick as hell.

w/e though I am sure you are a genius Magic player

I'll stick with the advice of pros that I know rather than some random 2p2ers.

Let's forget about this stupid argument anyway.

I think I'm going to play Adrian Sullivan's Ponza deck in the Extended PTQs. Maindeck Blastminer seems like it beats so many decks.

This is Sullivan's deck:

Artifacts
4 Chrome Mox

Creatures
4 Blistering Firecat
3 Dwarven Blastminer
4 Figure Of Destiny
4 Magus Of The Moon
4 Mogg Fanatic

Instants
4 Incinerate
4 Magma Jet
3 Shrapnel Blast
2 Smash To Smithereens

Lands
3 Blinkmoth Nexus

Legendary Artifacts
1 Umezawa's Jitte

Sorceries
4 Molten Rain

Artifact Lands
4 Great Furnace

Basic Lands
11 Mountain

Lands
1 Keldon Megaliths

Sideboard:

4 Trinisphere
3 Boil
3 Dead / Gone
2 Umezawa's Jitte
3 Shattering Spree

Not sure what I want to do specifically, but my first instincts are to cut the maindeck Smash to Smithereens and play 3 Jitte MD. After Conflux is legal, I'll probably play four Hellspark Elementals maindeck and possibly sideboard the new uncounterable Sulfuric Blast.

How many decks beat turn one Blastminer? I can't imagine many. Magus of the Moon is a real annoyance to tons of decks, too.
