Any idea if the sliver or GRw wild mongrel decks are any good?

Slivers won the most recently posted Premier event so it must not be too bad. Some GRw deck with Wild Mongrel was 8th in the same event.

Yeah I was lookin at those a little. Is it still primarily netdecks that you see in those events or is anyone playing garbage? I'll prob try a few soon since decks seem so cheap to make. The burn decks are like 10 tix because of fireblast so I'd guess most decks are around there or cheaper.

Affinity was looking pretty expensive when I looked at making it.

Marauders is one of the cards rplced with the new me3 burn. It's great when it hits but is too expensive for just the 2dam if you can't connect with the swing. Also can be countered by creature counter and can
use tendrils on it. Cut spark elem too.

the sliver deck with commune is newer. Before it had some much more awful cards and everyone still played it. My friend actually started running it w/ the commune & a few other changes & shared it with the guy who won last week.

The most effective pauper decks are

Burn
Affinity
Sliver
b/w (w/ nightsky mimic & the enchantment that gives +1/2 & +2/1 for b/w)

Affinity is just too slow usually to play against Burn. The b/w deck usually pwns my burn deck cause by turn 3 or so they have a 7/7 w/ flying & dudes that gain life.

storm is generally too slow against most pauper decks. it's like t5 or 6 win at best where the other ones are 4-5, sometimes 6.

Whats the cheapest winning Pauper deck? Anything for under 5 tickets or so?

From what I can tell the deck with like 40 goblins is around 5 tickets and seems to do fine, the rest seems to cost around 10. I'm trying to pick which ones to make, I'll prob make two out of: GR Madness/Threshold, B/W, Burn, Goblins, Slivers but idk which to choose.

Edit: Actually most are prob around 15 with the sideboard.

that looks like a pretty good sliver build. slivers is just way to inconsistent for me. you can get some rly good draws and it can run sick hot but you can also get really bad draws.

Didn't Storm just win one of the premier events either this week or last week?

Pretty sure I'm still a sealed fish, but hopefully I didn't build this too badly. I'm guessing Spirit Shackle or Fellwar Stone might be a decent play though...

I left the stone out since I'm 2 colors, might be a mistake.

I also have Hammerheim and Urborg, but those are nearly basic lands in this format it seems...

def play stuff like fellwar and astrolabe, with your pool you should prob have cut stuff like frost giant, axeldonk, gauntlets of chaos (it's a fine sb card but meh maindeck) and the black bear team for a blue splash. your blue cards are way more powerful than this chafe, and it's pretty easy to play 3 colors. you have deuce wu-tang longdonks, brilliant plans (though they aren't as good as they look b/c of the nature of the format) remove soul, explorers etc.

in fact, the more I look at this pool the more I would play black/blue and splash red for chain/immo/ambush/eunuch/lu bu/quake. that would be way better. you can maximize your time warp that way that card is absurd.

Cool, thanks for the insight.

For future reference, is there anything that seems particularly good here in blue aside from the bowmen and time warp? I love those, but it seemed like brilliant plans and remove soul were meh type cards.

fwiw, i hated how thin i was trying to play chaff like the 2cc black cards, but...

edit: you did mention explorers too, but i guess i'm wondering about legends, etc.

np np

explorers are necessary but it's not like you're bouncing off the walls happy to play them. I would def play the blue legends you have scarzam and pietro are fine, brilliant plans is overplayed, it's bad in a deck that doesn't set up shop, shop being a defense like wall of light or multiple explorers or something, basically if you tap out w/air on the board to cast it you lose too much board position b/c everyone else is spending that time dropping monsters, remove soul is awesome because hey, you're in a format where everything is like 7 mana and they're all insane. force spike is nice even. sometimes I maindeck it sometimes I sb it depending.

basically your blue and black is very deep w/playable cards, and your red has powerful cards and removal, but tons of ass inbetween. like fire drake and hurloon, funk dat.

So far I'm 3-1 with the deck as built, and the speed helps a lot in this format.

Take it with a big grain of salt though because I lost my first match and have been playing the losers bracket.

my pauper downswing has been similar. either i can't draw a land or spell, and my opponents draw perfect. **** this game
