Horizon Forbidden West is releasing on PC March 21st.

I've been waiting to play it on PC since it came out on PS. Horizon Zero Dawn is one of my all time fav single player games so I have high hopes for HFW.

Been looking forward to this, they had a different demo out a few months ago and I put 9 hours into it.

I have lots of small issues with zero dawn but at the end of the day it's just fun to play.

So did I. I only didn't have ten times as much because they took the demo down soon after I learned about it. The perfect game to play on the second monitor while watching Youtube or whatever.

For whatever reason Slay the Spire never hooked me originally. Then I committed over Christmas to playing it on Switch while back at the folks place, and I've subsequently logged an insane amount of hours on it since, both on Switch and PC. I think these kinds of roguelikes are what my game tastes have morphed into.

Same. When you are an adult is very hard to set aside the necessary time to play a new Final Fantasy or Elden Ring. Even if you do have the time, it feels like the time and attention investment to put into those kinds of games can be steep, as after a hard day of work you just want to relax and unwind. Games like Slay the Spire or Balatro, which may take an hour of your time per run and are easily played on a second monitor, is just the kind of game that one can easily unwind with.

I'm over 400 hrs into Slay the Spire and loving it in spite of still not having beaten A20. The beauty of the game is that it's oddly satisfying even when you lose a run.

Balatro demo was a great recommendation. Very addictive and I'm even starting to like the weird music.

Have you checked out the mods for StS?

Personally I don't like using mods that alter gameplay. The only StS one that looks interesting to me is the one that Baalorlord uses in his videos that lets you color code the paths. Incidentally he's awesome to watch and helped me unlock a bunch of cheevos.

Finally beat the Balatro demo by leveling up Full Houses to like level 7 (Planet cards are the best imo) and combined with that X3 multi joker if you use all the suits let me get some yuge scores. Also finding out you can rearrange the jokers helped. I'm wondering how the released game will crank up the challenge, maybe just by adding more rounds with increasingly difficult boss blinds I suppose. Looks very promising.

I just used the mods for extra characters. Obviously they can vary a lot, some very silly, some are really well done though.

STS never looked that interesting to me, but finally gave it a shot last night.

Got to the 8th fight (?) before dying. I'll probably give it another go.

I just started playing Salt & Sanctuary last weekend. First Souls type game I've played.

I've not played with mods, but I'm the same way -- the map colouring mod Baalor uses seems really nice. I also don't like to tweak gameplay, I guess I'm a purist in the sense I want to play the base game the way it was made by the devs. Right or wrong.

I discovered Baalor too and he's been quite helpful to get the hang of each character.

FF7 Rebirth Demo anyone!?

Seriously. I still don't have a PS5. At first it was because they were so hard to get, and then eventually I stopped caring about getting one.

But don't think I can put it off any longer.

Probably going to upgrade my monitor as well.

The Samsung is cheaper and higher resolution, but the LG has a much higher refresh rate. Not actually sure which matters more for gaming.

A 4k monitor is only good if you can actually render games at that resolution at a satisfactory framerate.

It depends greatly on your personal preference and what you play, but of the two, if I were picking for myself, I would go with the LG.

So the plan is to have my PC and PS5 (when I get it) hooked up to the monitor.

I thought PS5 games were in 4k, but I know my PC doesn't support 4k graphics.

In the little research I did last night, it does sound like refresh rate is a little more important than resolution so it does sound like the LG is the way to go.

Doki Doki Free on epic. Some people love that game

On the topic of free games - HoloCure - Save the Fans!

It's an unofficial game made by fans of Hololive. I don't know what Hololive is, and I don't 'get' the Japanese weeb stuff at all. It put me off at first, but it's free and the reviews were insane, so gave it a try.

I am addicted to Vampire Survivor, and similar games, and this is easily one of the best (well, most addictive) I've played, potentially even better than the original.

It's crap graphics, a bunch of creepy schoolgirl(?) characters, and probably a load of in-jokes that will never land, but great gameplay, creativity and progression.

One more run...

If that's the game I'm thinking of, I won't spoil it but just be warned it's fairly disturbing.

Sounds like the free version on epic spoils it a bit more than the original probably for those reasons.

Haven't confirmed that though.
