Spiderman: Miles Morales has a lot of cutscenes as well. But they're mostly never too long, and don't get in the way of gameplay. You're free to explore and do stuff right from the start. God of War's gameplay feels like watching cutscenes and occasionally engaging in combat.
I pretty much agree.
I played some of the God of war games (I think 1-3 but I really can't remember) back when I had a PS and while I enjoyed them, I would never put them anywhere close to the truly great games I've played.
I tried some Metal Gear Solid games and I've never gotten the appeal of them - it's 20 minutes of cut-scenes followed by 5 minutes of gameplay.
I love games that have a story, but it should be a story revealed as you're actually playing the game. Not just a movie where you occasionally get to push some buttons.
