For people that don't own the games, I found the demo to be super playable. You can play 95% of the game.

I shelled out my dollar for a month of Flight Simulator. The Windows Xbox app is such dogshit, why does Microsoft always try to do Microsoft things instead of just making something that works?

To start with, apparently you can only install Game Pass games through the "Game Pass" tab of the app - like if you just look up a game (I tried this with other games) that's included in Game Pass and open its page, and it even says "included with game pass" there, you can't actually install/play it from there, because you're looking at its Store page, not its Game Pass page.

And can you search for stuff within the Game Pass tab? lol, no, that would make way too much sense, try finding it by category or scrolling through a list of every game alphabetically.

So, okay, finally found Flight Simulator through the Game Pass tab (after seeing elsewhere that it apparently released 2 hours ago). Can I install it?



Nope. Note the "releases 8/17/2020" on the bottom left. But it's "not available at this time".

Looking up installation problems led me to Reddit where someone suggested installing from the Microsoft Store instead of the Xbox App - at first it did nothing (like I clicked "install" and literally nothing happened) and then I rebooted my computer and tried again and it finally installed.

It downloaded about 1GB of data and then opened the game, where it froze on a loading screen. After a few minutes of this I went searching for the internets again which took me to Reddit again where I discovered the magic fix for this **** is to "run as administrator", because of course, obviously the game should be totally broken until you run it as administrator.

I have now, after significant investigation and work, gotten to the stage where my PC is gonna download like a hundred gigs of data

Alright, apparently downloading 90 GB didn't take as long as I thought it would

Set everything to "easy mode" because I don't know **** about flying, selected my local airport, LET'S GO.

Oh, ****, it's totally dark outside. Roads are all lit up pretty nicely but otherwise I can't see **** and I'm liable to crash this thing into the side of a mountain. Let's try again in daylight.

This is pretty cool. I still don't know **** about flying, but maybe it'd be worth learning, this seems like a game where you could lose a ton of time just chilling out and flying places.

Performance was pretty good, running 1080p w/ high options on my gaming laptop that's maybe 1-2 years old by now. Smooth framerate except when flying over downtown SF.

You guys play the strangest games.

Dorks. I'm intrigued though. I fly a lot of work (well, this year not much) with around 300 flights under my belt over 10 years so everything flying is interesting for me.

I've watched some gameplays. I know you mentioned it already but when my wife asked 'how much does it cost' I realised it's on game pass for which I still have the 1€ trial option. I guess this would be the perfect time for that.

I already have game pass ultimate for console and goofy's experience is exactly what I would expect if I tried to figure out the integration with PC

I have Game Pass on PC and never had any problems with it. Granted I rarely use it but I played both Forza Horizon 4 and Gears Tactics with no problems. It must had problems just because it launched, I just opened the Xbox app and Microsoft Flight Sim installs fine, didn't have to launch as admin either.

I use Game Pass on PC pretty regularly and find it more stable than Epic launcher. El Kabong's game, Moving Out, is on there as well if anybody's looking to try it out.

I think this would help Goofys problems. I think he was mentioning that he was trying to download through the xbox game pass website instead of the app. Hopefully that helps.

Btw Rogue Legacy 2 early access is supposed to launch today. The sequel to one of the all time best roguelikes should be on anybody's list who enjoys the genre.

I love roguelites but somehow Rogue Legacy didn't click with me, I played 'just' 27 hours. I I always felt that I quit it too early. I often go for 100% in such games.

Picked it up on a whim because I had some $ in my Steam wallet and it was cheaper then I thought it would be.

Havent seen how much yet. Is it under 20?

I had Game Pass when it first came out at the $5 a month or whatever it was. Besides the bizarre issues mentioned recently in this thread, you also have to watch out for random save deletions. i was like 50 hours into WarGroove when it randomly deleted my game, leading to my rage-cancellation of Game Pass. Microsoft just can't put forward a reasonably working gaming platform on the PC for some reason. SAD!

My wife is absolutely loving Spiritfarer which was released on gamepass yesterday and is being overshadowed by flight simulator.

It's a quirky mix of Stardew Valeey, Graveyard Keeper, and Oxenfree/Afterparty where you manage resources and build residences for those in limbo before ferrying them to the afterlife. The art is breathtaking.

Pretty much. I'm kinda over it. Got 3-4 evenings of gameplay out of it, but I'm already sick of most of the maps. They need to 5x the # of maps to keep it fresh.

My first time playing Microsoft Flight Simulator. I’m really digging it. I attempted to fly a route that I’ve flown in real life Midway Chicago to BWI (Baltimore). Then I realized that I didn’t really have time after work to complete that flight. 20 minutes of flight time and I was barely crossing Lake Michigan.


Next I tried a flight from DC-Baltimore..more realistic chance of completing that short flight. By the time I reached 30,000 feet I overshot BWI. It’s not like GTA V where you can lower a 747 down to the runway like it’s a helicopter.

This game is very immersive and I’m having fun with it so far.

Yeah, ETS2 goes on sale extremely frequently, if anyone's not played it and is able to get a bunch of the map packs built in at -75% or so then I think you'll easily get value out of it

I'm in the middle of HL:Alyx right now. I'm at a point where I'm having a tough time to get past. It's been fight, die, reload, fight, die, reload, fight, die, reload, fight, die, reload, fight, die, reload, fight, die, reload, fight, die, reload, fight, die, reload, fight, die, reload, fight, die, reload, fight, die, reload, fight, die, reload, fight, die, reload, fight, die, reload, fight, die, reload... I finally figured I must be missing some trick. So I peeked at the IGN walkthrough. I found the relevant section of the walkthrough and it said (paraphrasing): "Enter the area and kill all the bad guys then..."

You should try Sekiro, it's way easier and more relaxing.
