Man, I'm liking the new subscription service battle thing that they've been doing recently, looks really great, I'm tempted but at the same time in my first origin basic access month I played like 2 games. :<

The way I see it, I'll only sub if there is something I want to play right now.

Xbox game pass is basically free and I've no idea why anyone with a game interest wouldn't just get it.

Pretty sure I've already gotten a few years value out of it and I've only subbed for 2-3 months.

Not to mention it gets me some games that would otherwise not be available because of ****ing epic.

Yeah I'm liking the move to subscription services. I subbed to Origin Premiere to play Madden 20 for a month. Uplays sub service starts in September. I pretty much have all the uplay games I want to play but it will be nice when a new game comes to drop $10 for a month.

In Finnish we have a saying: "enough small streaks combined will make a river". When you look at subscription service on it's own, the price is low. But when you combine all the monthly (or yearly) subscriptions, the amount can be significant. There is no need to pay for something you don't need now.

Of course if you don't play any of the games, then you shouldn't get it, but just by playing Forza Horizon 4 I can pretty much justify the price of the sub for a year compared to just buing it.

It's like any streaming service - if you don't use it, then its wasted money. But they are so cheap, just minimal usage can often justify the cost. And especially xbox game pass - they're still in beta so you get the first mont at some symbolic sum and the following months are like 4-5 dollars.

Add that you can stop and start the sub at any time, it's pretty much a no-brainer if you're interested in even one of the games there.

I couldn't find much to like about xbox game pass, even for $1/month.
Enjoying my origin premium for 15/month though.

I liked the service until it erased my save game in Wargroove, after I had put 20 hours into it. With no way whatsoever to get the save game back, and Microsoft's online support being a condescending joke, I really do not feel like wasting that much time on one of their games again.

I just realized that I have to cancel the service. Thank you for reminding me.

I see a rumor El Kabong's "Moving Out" will appear in some form at Gamescom tomorrow. I will chuckle/sigh if it has become an EGSclusive!

I'm under NDA's so can't talk about anything that hasn't been announced but to be honest, I didn't even know we were doing anything at Gamescom until I read your post so I don't know what's happening there. We've been getting ready for PAX West the past few weeks, we've announced it will be playable there and at an ID@Xbox event.

There is one big thing we're announcing this month that I know about but it has nothing to do with Epic. If we are EGS exclusive then I don't know about it nor do I have any say. I'd be pretty shocked if it happened to be honest.

This is a different situation to SOMJ. I made that with one other person and signed with a publisher so you can ask me anything you want and I can try and answer with as much detail as possible. I'm under contract with MO.

Just put whatever is behind the "v=" (for regular links) or in this case behind the slash in YOUTUBE-brackets

It appears the rumor was incorrect and you weren't at Gamescom, unless I missed it!

FEZ is free this week on Epic, I am sure most people probably have it.

Next week is, dare I say it, Epic. Celeste and Inside are free. Two of the biggest/best indie games of the last few years (IGN gave both 10s). WOW

Anyone else playing Shortest Trip to Earth?

An FTL-like space sim, that is more based on resource management that fighting. There is a definitely still a lot of fighting, but you don't have that constant threat of the enemy fleet catching up to you which allows you to explore sectors more than FTL.

Some of the main differences between the 2 is that there are a lot more resources in STTE to take care of, Metal for ship hull repairs, Synthetics for module repairs. Explosives for ammo. Food to feed your seemingly ever-growing crew.

There also many more different ship modules, most of which are interchangeable depending on your situation. A garden station which grows extra food as you explore the galaxy is great, but not very useful during a fight, so why not change it out for a back up shield generator during a fight. You can also upgrade a ships module slots along the way making a storage slot into a hybrid slot and eventually a full weapons which allows for tons of creative ways to upgrade your ships.

There are also permanent upgrades for each ship, As you play you gate "fate points" which can be used to make permanent upgrades for your ship like 5% accuracy on all weapons, or starting out with a med bay, or fire fighting drones etc. My only complaint about this system is that the 1st time you play through with a ship you can't actually see what modules it has to start, so unless you show restraint and don't use your initial fate points there is a good chance you may waste them on something the ship already has.

Since FTL is basically the GOAT of all roguelikes, I'm intrigued. Any other FTL veteran itt that has played this?
