I once left a ****ty game idling at the menu screen while I tabbed out and went for food. Dumb mistake, no refund!

Yeah good luck on an over 2 hours/2weeks refund, although I did get one once. Under 2 hours/2 weeks being automatic refunds are great though, I've done 20+.

Picked up My Time at Portia and have played that quite a bit this weekend.

It's quite Stardew Valley-ish although it is very slow paced with stuff taking a lot of time and repetition so some will probably find it too slow and boring. I'm enjoying it a lot though.

A Total War Mod that's a lot like The Elder Scrolls?

I do this all the time. I'll have 100+ hours on a game that I've played 20 hours. Only been screwed on refunds once though.

I tell myself that leaving the game running for weeks at a time while I'm on vacation is why my hours in Rocket League are so high.

Subnautica Q: What's the best place to build my habitat? Any reason I shouldn't just build it next to the escape pod?

Don't know if you consider looking at the map to be spoilers or not (escape pod spawns in one of the Safe Shallows biomes):

Spoiler:

I like to build my first base in the western most Grassy Plateau biome, just north of the Blood Kelp Zone trench. There is a nice spire with a reefback leviathan swimming around to build a base around. The Grassy Plateau is safe and that location is close to the Dunes, Kelp Forest, Sparse Reef, Mushroom Forest, and the Floating Islands. Also it is right next to the Blood Kelp Zone and the trench is much safer than the Blood Kelp zone up north.

Only 3 heroes and once you start down a path the picks become pretty obvious. Game also isn't very hard if you've played a lot of card games. I've only opened it 2-3 times since those first three days and its been the same run because I play a few rounds and get bored and turn it off.

I bought it during the steam sale in december and feel like it was borderline worth the money. If you have any interest you should get it now because I dont think itll be worth it after the increase as is.
Did you even open up the ascension levels? The game is quite difficult at the highest difficulty with the best players having win rates of less than 30%.

I find Slay the Spire gets bland relatively quickly. After a couple normal runs of each character I basically only play the Daily Climb. However I recently installed a couple mods and the game is much better. I have Infinite Spire, Replay the Spire, and The Slimebound installed and they add a ton and make the game much more enjoyable.

Genuinely curious: what makes some of you guys look past through bad reviews and mobile look like the game from the post above? Isn't it a waste of time to give a shot? And waste of money? There are so many other great games out there.

I obviously don't look usually just at the % of positive reviews but usually read a few top rated positive ones and negative ones as well, but here it seems that the game is a bloody mess and looks like a mobile game at first glance. I understand giving games with bad reviews a chance where they were review bombed or maybe not liked by many due to game's nature (like The Witness).

Not trying to criticize, just genuinely curious, maybe I'm missing out or I could miss out on a game that I'd otherwise potentially enjoy in the future just because I tend to assess games the way I do.

I never look at steam reviews except for comedic purposes.

No way to trust a negative review by a user with <1 hour played in a game. Same goes for someone with 200+ hours in a game who writes a 30,000 word manifesto on how bad the game is because they got bad RNG on their latest run.

Not sure if you're referring to my post about the bundle where I talked about a game that looks similar to My Summer Car or the other car mechanic sim games, or the one where I told everyone about a FREE game.

Watching the video for that game it's pretty obvious that the game is not good, but it's included in a bundle with at least 3 other very playable games and maybe someone on the fence about getting MSC can see if they'd enjoy a mechanic sim game by playing what is essentially a throw-away game they got in a bundle before spending $$ on a game genre they're not sure if they would enjoy.

Witcher 3 GOTY 70% off ($15) at GOG, if for some reason you're terrible at life and still haven't played it then you should remedy that

Trying to figure out the difference between GOTY and the standard edition. The checklist chart on GOG shows that GOTY adds some soundtracks, wallpapers, and other bull**** I don't care about. Is that it or does GOTY offer something else?

EDIT: Going back up to the game description on the GOG page, looks like GOTY has all the expansions, which would certainly make it worth the extra few bucks. RPGs aren't really my thing, but for this price, I should probably check this out. Funny thing is, I realized I have Witcher II in my GOG account - must've gotten for free at some point.

Read the description above the chart. The chart is for really additional stuff. The GOTY has all of the expansions which probably double the game (and very highly praised too).

Watch compilation of W1 story, then play W2, then play W3. Some of the decisions you make in W2 can be imported to W3, which is a bonus, but W2 is simply a good game.

Witcher 3 (and the expansions) are one of the games I wish there was memory wiping available for so I could experience them fresh all over again.

In that case, I'd just skip Witcher 2. You really don't need to play the previous games to enjoy Witcher 3. There is a large encyclopedia in game that gives background on various characters and factions if you have questions on what is going on. It also updates as you interact with various people, which is a nice touch. The game tends to do a good job of laying out the basics in the story, with the encyclopedia being there for people who want more information.

I would recommend reading up on the main characters and factions for background once you've gotten your feet wet in the world (the first area is a tutorial area that introduces you to what is going on), but it isn't totally necessary.
