bobman will be thrilled to know everyone can enjoy SHADOW TACTICS for free!

Of the other games, which of those are actually worth playing? Haven't heard of them

Try that if you don’t currently have amazon prime, it worked for me. Waiting until 3/15 is prob best so you get April’s games as well

Also, you can immediately cancel but still keep the month of free prime.

and also you can sign up for a free trial again at a later date. I'm not sure what the exact waiting period is though.

I have Prime, but I never linked it to Twitch and Steam or whatever.

Superhot is a lot of fun. Feels like being in the matrix.

Actually have Shadow Tactics at home thru a 1 month free gamefly trial and i absolutely LOVE it. The ist mission was a nice intro to the mechanics, The 2nd a decent increase in difficulty and now on the 3rd mission I'm thinking holy **** how am I supposed to get around 50 guys???It's tough as hell, but I'm looking forward to the challenge. The stealth aspect and the guards w/ predictable patrols give it an old school MGS feel to the gameplay

Is there a simple, yet fun, PC game out there that is single-player (or shared online), progression based with an economy attached to it that is rewarding to the point where you want to play a little bit more, but not have it monopolize all of your time?

World of Warcraft is fun, but it's time consuming.

Path of Exile is a good game, but I lose interest after awhile mindlessly killing things and collecting loot.

Diablo 3 ran its course.

I started playing Eve: Online a little bit, but it quickly became apparent how much of a time-suck that will turn into. I got bored with it after awhile.

Kerbal Space Program is a lot of fun, but I'm looking for something else maybe.

Warframe is interesting, but the shooter-genre is losing its appeal.

Grand Theft Auto V is a great game, but I finished the single player and never got into the multiplayer. Plus, I have it on my PS3, which isn't hooked up.

I'm not exactly sure what 'that' game is yet, but was curious if there are unique games out there 'that got everything right.'

Maybe you'd enjoy League of Legends or Destiny?

Ultima Online has an economy attached, and the chances of it sucking up all your time are minimal.

LOL UO still exists? I was a Counselor way back in the day -- like around 2000.

I couldn't get into LoL back when it first became a thing. It was too toxic and wasn't as casual as I preferred. I liked Dota 2 a little more, but can't justify spending 30m-1hr per game.

I looked into Destiny 2, but saw some bad reviews so I decided against it. Tried out Warframe then, but can't seem to get into it.

I guess I don't mean an economy like an auction house or marketplace, but something that feels like a progressive system where you have to make a choice or tradeoff.

Like I said, I'm not really sure what I'm looking for. Just something that is fun and rewarding to play, but not stressful or feel like I'm obligated to log in. Something I can get lost in the game without having to think too hard, but triggers the fun-factor.

As a KSP fan, Elite Dangerous is pretty fun with a fairly decent learning curve. When on sale, it's also cheap ($7.50).

Rocket League also whets a certain gaming itch with quick short games and a ranking ladder

Doesn't fit your definitions but I really liked the puzzle games The Witness and Talos Principle for serving bite size play amounts while also maintaining a strong desire to complete them.

I would give Subnautica a try? There is no economy exactly, but you do need to scavenge resources and explore in order to build, survive, and advance the story. I's fairly cheap for an open world game and looks amazing. The underwater aspect also makes it feel much different than other open world survival games. It left early access last month.

I was actually looking at Elite: Dangerous today, but wasn't sure if it was interesting enough. It looked like it was station hopping similar to Eve.

I have Rocket League and played that for a little while.

And, I have The Witness and Talos Principle. I didn't fully finish The Witness, but got enough out of it. And I nearly finished Talos up until that last level, which I didn't care to figure out. haha

I've seen Subnautica recommended a few times on reddit along with Stardew Valley and Terraria. Subnautica looks interesting. I've probably watched a little too much to spoil it.

Also if you're looking for a more short play type experience where you get better as you play, fortnite is a lot of fun

Most of the remaining options are hordes, which I'm not big fan of, mainly because I hate ranged cavalry.
Thanks! IFL ranged cavalry.

I'm actually kind of pissed you tightwads are going to get to enjoy this masterpiece without supporting the developers. They're just giving it away!

If you're looking for a more casual MOBA I'd recommend HOTS. Games are shorter than LoL and there's no gold/items/last hitting minions so it's more accessible and laid back imo.

Also Battlerite is a game I can highly recommend and you can get in a game of that in ~10 minutes.

I'm not really looking for a PvP type game. More of a casual game that is just fun to play and rewarding and makes me want to keep playing. I've played HOTS. Not really what I'm looking for right now.

I know I might be being difficult, but I'm just trying to think of something out there that gets it right for being replayable and rewarding rather than a constant grind to nowhere.

I've looked at it a few times. Seems like it's a farming game to collect and store things?
