Games she likes:
Minecraft (loves)
Stardew Valley (loves)
Infinifactory
The Witness
Everquest 2 (it's been awhile)

I bought her Skyrim but hasn't played it (which I still think she'll like)

I was thinking maybe one of Elite Dangerous, Slime Rancher, Astroneer, Oxygen Not Included

Since I just posted about it, I'd recommend Into the Breach. It is basically a logical puzzle game more than a strategy game so she may like it since she also liked Infinifactory and The Witness. Each turn of the game is like a mini puzzle and they can be quite complicated. I've been really impressed by how much it has forced me to think about my actions. I feel engaged in a similar way to how I felt when figuring out the puzzles in The Witness.

Rimworld is another she may like. The base building and colony management appeal to a lot of people. Laying out and building your base is fun. Looking after your colonists is interesting in a more stripped down The Sims kind of way. If combat isn't her thing, there are more peaceful modes where you deal with crises like acid storms more than invaders. There is also a massive modding community, so if she's really into base building, for example, there are tons of mods that will enhance that aspect of the game. I've played hundreds of hours of Rimworld.

Portal 2 could be a good one.

She may also like other games made by the same devs that made Infinifactory, Zachtronics. Spacechem is excellent. I haven't played their newest game, Opus Magnum, but it also looks interesting.

The Talos Principle
+1 to Portal 1/2
Antichamber

Building/crafting games:
Factorio
Cities: Skylines

Wow, great suggestions. Thank you!!! I want to buy "Into the Breach" for me!

I think Rimworld has too steep a learning curve for a light gamer. idk. She's also played Shenzhen I/O but the difficulty ramps up too hard for her to get far.

I already have the games marked with a * Even so, awesome suggestions. I really like the Gone Home/To the moon ideas. Cities: Skylines also seems a good choice.

Talos Principle is easily in my all time favorites list. She's watched me play it. Another good one.

BTW, Civ is my son's 2nd favorite game (Rocket League #1). However, I'm getting him an MLB.tv subscription.

Tried, but taken. Thanks anyway, Maq.

Mark, for your daughter I'd recommend Crusader Kings II. Never too early to lose your life to a video game.

Hehe... I bought it a few days before it was part of an awesome Humble Bundle a month ago.

I'm not sure if CK2 is suitable for a 15 year old and I'm not trying to be overly sensitive when it comes to these things.

I don't see what could POSSIBLY be wrong with teaching kids to murder a newborn son so their more intelligent sister eventually takes the throne?

I'm actually doing a chill Buddhist run right now. You can select your heir as a religion feature.

I think main issue with CK is that most people simply don't find it fun, as the UI is pretty bad, you have to enjoy history etc so it is very niche.

a 15 year old knows more than you think

of course, it doesn't mean they should jump into it, otherwise might let them as well read 50 Shades of Grey just because they know more than we think

The idea that a 15 year old shouldn’t be playing CK2 is insane.

EDIT: The idea that a 15 year old shouldn’t read 50 shades is also insane.

Slay the spire added quests, at least I think it’s a new feature

Yeah they were new to me as of 2 days ago. I can’t beat the game on normal so not sure how much chance I have of completing one; the first one was pretty cool but i didn’t even attempt yesterday’s.

Why should anyone read 50 shades when there are actual good books to read instead?

Since a few updates Steam stopped remembering my birthday and now I have to scroll back 18+ years every time I want to go to the page of a game that is considered 18+.

What is the point of this at all? Steam has my cc - they know I'm (way) over 18. Why even have this? And why not have a way of avoiding this totally pointless age verification? Is the theory that people under 18 will never scroll to a year beyond their actual birth year?

This tilts me way more than it should. But srsly - how is stupidity like this even a part of Steam?

She has it for her phone. I think her would rather play minecraft.

I thought of a couple new games that look really interesting:

Eco - Minecraft with a built-in self destruct timer running right out of the gate

Stationeers - 1st person Factorio in Space!!!

Cannot believe the amount of games being compared to other games and not a single one is like Total War.

I'm pretty sure she already knows what a lesbian is man.

Into the woods is pretty great, though probably more sentimental and interesting to people our age than current teenagers.

Maybe Empyrion: Galactic Survival.
Baids made this hilarious thread about it that convinced me to get the game and sink hundreds of hours:
https://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/7...light=empyrion

The game is still in early access and lots of features have been added since that thread and are still very regularly added.

The standard mode has some survival and shooter elements, building spaceships and fighting with them. If that‘s not something she might be interested in then
there‘‘s also a creative mode where you can just build and ignore all of the above.
